We had a great holiday in Germa. Rene was always easily accessible and helpful, both before and during the holiday.
The welcome in the house and the departure at the end of our stay were perfectly arranged. Information about the cottage and the surrounding area was plentiful, in the form of phone calls, emails and documents in the house. The house is located in a very small and quiet village, which should not be a problem, provided you have a rental car. The two terraces are nice because there is always a place in the shade. The rear terrace has a nice view and at the front you can sit comfortably and relaxed on the couch. The kitchen with oven and lots of pans, cutlery etc is also nice.
We stayed in the upper part and only did the laundry on the lower floor. The house remained reasonably cool, even without air conditioning. A fan on the ceiling and/or an extra fan next to the bed provide sufficient coolness, despite maximum temperatures outside of 33 degrees or more.
The price/quality of what is offered is fine. Perhaps some will miss WiFi, although there is good 4G reception. We found the ground floor apartment a bit dark, but that seems to be changing with a renovation. The house looks neat on the outside and also on the inside, although sometimes a bit old-fashioned in terms of furniture.
By car you can be in Areopoli in just over 10 minutes for groceries or restaurant. At dusk you can sometimes encounter a jackal or wild boar on the road, near the house.
In addition to Areopoli, there are plenty of nice restaurants in the area, also inland.
There are plenty of beautiful and quiet beaches with clear water. Unfortunately for the snorkelers, there are not a lot of fish left. You have to be able to appreciate the little things and the underwater scenery is often very beautiful. Visibility is very good.
We mainly visited the peninsula south of Germa. But Gythio and the wreck of the Dimitrios were also beautiful and the higher and more vegetated mountains to the north were well worth seeing. Because of the heat, we didn't get around to visiting archaeological sites like Mystras.
We found this a nice house to stay in quietly with more lively locations close by.
