We had two fantastic weeks (from 1 to 15 August) with our family (children aged 13 and 15) at Villa Aphrodite in Panormos. The ground floor apartment is located directly on a beautiful, clean swimming pool. You will share the pool with the guests of the other villas/apartments. Despite the high season, it was not crowded at the pool and there were always plenty of sunbeds. Excellent facilities in the villa, such as air conditioning in living area and bedroom, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge with three freezer drawers, oven, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and sandwich maker. The village of Panormos is within walking distance. Plenty of restaurants and including two small "supermarkets" and a bakery. We had a car at our disposal and therefore saw and experienced a lot of Crete. The distances to some places, beaches and sights are quite large. So you sometimes spend a long time in the car for a day trip. The advantage is that you also get a good idea of the diversity of the island from the car. We made a walk in the Imbros Gorge and afterwards drove a spectacular route through the Lefka Ori mountains, made a boat trip to Gramvousa island and Balos lagoon (from Kissamos; was more than two hours away!), drove to Plakias Beach and made a stop at the imposing Kourtaliotiko Gorge, visited the cozy, but busy city of Rethymno several times (20 km from Panormos; plenty of choices for restaurants, terraces, nightlife and shops) and to the beautiful long sandy beach at Georgioupolis. And last but not least, of course, wonderfully rested, enjoyed the sun and swam and played in the fantastic pool!
