We spent a week with two families in the town hall in Huy-Neinstedt. There was more than enough space for everyone, the house is huge. The comfort is fine, there are three beautiful bathrooms (1 large and 2 smaller). The two kitchens are fully equipped and have a large amount of utensils, making it easy to cook for a larger group. It's an old house, but that's what we liked. The fireplace is nice to get the living room warm in the evening. When we were there, the fruit trees in the garden were in bloom, which was a special sight. The garden is very large, with several places to sit, or to let children play undisturbed. It's fun to explore the house and garden.
Communication with the owner was very friendly, with quick responses and helpful tips. The owner also sent a pdf, with useful information about the route, the house and the surroundings. Prices in the catering industry are (still) low in the Harz Mountains.
There is a lot to do in the area, for adults and for children. It was still a bit too cold for swimming. From the house you can make beautiful walks. We really liked Wernigerode, with a beautiful castle. There are also a large number of (tree) climbing parks, summer toboggan runs and mountains where you can take a cable car to the top. We also visited a coal mine, the Rammelsteiner Stollen, where an exciting tour makes it clear that life for the miners (mostly children or young people) was very hard. There is a large collection of leaflets in the house.
All in all, we had a great holiday week in the Town Hall!
