Meet Your Host – Stefano Votini
Hello and welcome! My name is Stefano Votini, and I’m honored to open the doors of Lux Romae to travelers from all over the world. I’m originally from Rome, born and raised in the heart of the Eternal City, but I now live in the Netherlands with my wife and young son. Still, my ties to Italy — and especially to Rome — remain deep and meaningful.

I work as an engineer and patent examiner in the field of innovation and technology, a career that has given me the opportunity to work and connect with people from diverse cultures and disciplines. I’ve always been passionate about new ideas, creative solutions, and everything that blends design with purpose.

Outside of my professional life, I’m a lifelong traveler, always curious to discover new places, cultures, and cuisines. My favorite experiences are those that combine beauty and authenticity — a charming guesthouse in Kyoto, a modern loft in Copenhagen, or a quiet riad in Marrakech. Over time, I realized that what made these places special wasn’t just the architecture or location — it was the thought and soul poured into every detail by the hosts.

This philosophy inspired me to create Lux Romae, a personal project that brings together everything I love: architecture, design, technology, culture, and a deep sense of hospitality.

Lux Romae is not just a place to sleep — it’s an apartment I’ve personally curated, in collaboration with a renowned interior architect, to reflect a feeling of warmth, elegance, and Roman identity. Every element has been selected with care: from the fabrics and lighting, to the art on the walls, to the high-speed internet and smart TVs, to the insulation and climate control systems that ensure comfort in every season.

I’ve also developed a digital concierge service, the first of its kind in Italy, to offer guests personalized, real-time recommendations about events, exhibitions, restaurants, concerts, and cultural gems in Rome and the Vatican. It’s my way of making sure you don’t just visit the city — you experience it fully, like a local.

When I’m not working or hosting, I enjoy cooking, reading, photography, and cycling with my son. I also love spending time in nature, from the Roman countryside to the dunes of the Dutch coast.

As a guest at Lux Romae, you’ll have all the independence you need, but I’ll always be available — directly or through the concierge system — to assist you before, during, and even after your stay. Whether you’re looking for the best carbonara in town, a babysitter for an evening, or tickets for a secret concert, I’m happy to help.
