First of all, we were here with five adults and there was only one key, so you have to take this into account every time, and the unlocking of the gate did not work from the apartment either.
So we were here with it. Plane and taxi and you have to walk quite far for groceries (water, soft drinks, milk, etc.)
There is no shopping cart or the like, and with the temperatures of 35 degrees this is not pleasant.
Had contact with the landlord but he couldn't do anything about it.
Restaurants or going out for a drink are all at least a 20-minute walk away.
Also, would there be a sprawling boulevard?
First of all, it is already more than half an hour's walk and not much more than 50 meters!
Bus stop is also a good 20 minute walk.
So all in all, there is little that can be done without your own transport.
Had a nice holiday, but next time a little more touristy.

My response to your review:
The nearest supermarket, CarreFour Express, is a 13-minute walk away, and the nearest beach, la Roqueta, is a 15-minute walk from our property. Directly on the beach "la Roqueta" are two restaurants Casa Blanca and El Barca) both with a large terrace, and a nice view of the beach la Roqueta and the sea. You can easily check/verify this with, for example, Google Maps.
On the beach la Roqueta there is also a beach bar, open in season, and there is a rental of sun loungers and umbrellas.
Guardamar del Segura has several contiguous long sandy beaches, the beach Playa Centro is located on the large boulevard with many eateries and terraces.
The Playa Centro beach is close to the center, where you will also find many shops, eateries and terraces, and near the beautiful parks.
If you find these distances too far to walk (due to a lack of your own transport), the city bus is a good option/possibility.
Just a 3-minute walk from our house, the bus stop "Cemeterio" is located, at Carrer Carcaixent 12.
There is a handy app (MOOVIT) available which you can download on your smartphone.
This app contains a route planner, and can be used to plan and walk the (walking) route to the nearest bus stop, in the app you will also find a time table and the routes of all bus lines, with all stops, so very handy.
You can also order a taxi via this app. You can easily verify this information.
This city bus stops at the CarreFour Express supermarkets, the Marcadona supermarket, and the beaches, as well as at the stops in the centre of Guardemar del Segura.

As for the (alleged) defect of the entrance gate.
The general terms and conditions (which you have also received in advance) clearly state that complaints and defects must be reported immediately to the landlord.
Unfortunately, I only read this complaint in your review, so I couldn't take immediate action.
When I checked afterwards, after reading your review, it turned out that the gate could be opened from the house without any problems.
There were also no problems known or reported to the manager of the residence esSence (who is responsible for the functioning of this gateway) during the period of your stay.
By the way, there are several entrance gates to the esSence residence (also with elevator).
The fact that only 1 key is provided is due to the fact that you have reserved for 2 adults and 1 child in the booking.
In a message (later) you did report/confirm that 2 extra people would come at a later date, but without changing the number of people in your booking/reservation form.

Providing multiple keys is no problem at all.
As a final note; Guardamar del Segura is indeed still a relatively unknown place to tourists, but it is one of the most beautiful places on the Costa Blanca.
This is because of the beautiful surroundings in which the city is located, the lack of high-rise buildings, and the spectacular long stretches of beautiful sandy beaches, and the beautiful parks (which can be found in various reviews and information on the internet).
