What a lovely place. We came before half-time and we certainly succeeded. Beautiful place and above all fantastic lovely owners. Bernard and Sandra are great. We did the tour through the castle. Bernard's passionate explanation about the Castle with history and after the tour enjoying Sandra's cooking skills were fantastic.

Also enjoyed the peace and quiet.
In the village itself no terrace but we did not miss it.

If you like peace and quiet, Château de la Barre is highly recommended. In addition to the exquisite gastronomic qualities of Kasteelvrouwe Sandra, there are within a radius of 20 km. Plenty of nice and affordable restaurants. ...

If you like peace and quiet, Château de la Barre is highly recommended. In addition to the exquisite gastronomic qualities of Kasteelvrouwe Sandra, there are within a radius of 20 km. Plenty of nice and affordable restaurants. In addition to Cognac and Angoulême, the Château de la Rochefoucould is highly recommended and well worth a visit. The lord of the castle, Bernard and Sandra, do everything they can to make the life of the guests as pleasant as possible. This year, with its high temperatures, the well-functioning air conditioning brought a welcome cooling to the gite.

Being hospitably received is what Sandra and Bernard have been entrusted with. In a gîte where you will lack nothing (even an airfryer is available) you can relax and enjoy a wonderful environment. One of the highlights for us was the luxurious dinner at the castle after we were allowed to enjoy a tour of the mansion. With smaller places (Cognac, Saintes. Angouleme) and Bordeaux and Poitiers within an hour and a half's drive, great to enjoy this part of France

Beautiful place, very quiet location, nice garden, very nice tour in the castle by the friendly and enthusiastic host. The gites are very spacious and well equipped. Great place to enjoy yourself for 1 to 2 weeks.

The word hospitality is of paramount importance to the lady of the castle Sandra and the lord of the castle, Bernard. Both do everything they can to make their guests feel at home. A castle with more than 500 years of history; Bernard can tell you all about it, in detail. Sandra is a great cook and also makes the most delicious cocktails. With a magnificent view/view from the gite (fully equipped, including air conditioning) and a more than relaxing environment, we now understand what it feels like to live as a god and goddess in France.
