Situated between the pretty villages of Sedella and Salares, in a peaceful but not isolated situation, the house is the perfect place to come and relax with a partner, with friends, or family. We have a beautiful. seasonally heated (heating is chargeable), saltwater pool where you can chill out with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. Here there is very little light pollution, so at night the stars are amazing.
Inside
The house is well furnished, very comfortable and comes with a good wi-fi connection and dedicated space for home working. There are hot and cold air conditioning units and ceiling fans in both bedrooms and the living room, and for winter lets, there is a woodburner in the living room and underfloor heating in both bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with an electric induction hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, slow cooker, a capsule coffee machine and plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses. For infants we have a cot and a highchair available which are provided free of charge on request.
Outside
The garden is planted with a variety of shrubs and fruit trees, including a lemon, two limes, a mandarin and an orange; and of course we have the magnificent Washingtonia palms which the house is named after. There are plenty of spaces outdoors to relax in the shade, or in the sun. The outside kitchen is equipped with a gas bbq and a sink. There is a comfortable daybed and a breakfast table and chairs on the veranda, a bistro table and chairs on the lookout, a 4/6 seater outdoor dining table with a large hanging parasol for shade, and 4 sunbeds sharing two parasols and two side tables.
We love enjoying a sundowner on our lookout, watching the light gradually fading and turning the mountain and hilltops pink. There are wonderful views of Mount Maroma, the highest mountain in the Axarquia from the polar area.
In the area
Although the house is in a rural location it's just a 5 minute drive or a 30 minute (uphill) walk from the pretty village of Sedella, where you can find El Chiringuito restaurant, where Victor the chef patron prepares delicious food using local ingredients. There are also two bars and a small but well stocked shop. A little further away you will find the villages of Salares and Archez, each with at least one local bar/restaurant. Compéta and Canillas de Aceituno are both around 20 minutes drive and have a variety of shops, bars and restaurants. The nearest beach is 40 minutes away at Torre Del Mar, Nerja and La Herradura are around an hours drive. For a real change of pace and scenery Malaga is only 50 minutes by car and makes a wonderful day trip with museums, historical and cultural sites to visit and a wide choice of tapas bars and restaurants to choose from.
