Casa Vallecillo is a wonderfully light house where it immediately feels good. Because of the cheerful colors, the homely decoration, the modern facilities and the private location. The house has three bedrooms, a living room with open kitchen and two spacious bathrooms.
Bedroom 1 and 2 with a double bed (1.40x2.00). Third bedroom with two single beds (90x2.00). Two complete bathrooms, one en-suite with shower and the other with bathtub. Fully equipped open plan kitchen, dining and living room. Washing machine (in the bathroom). There is a covered terrace in front of the house and a small simple garden, with some sun loungers. The 8 x 4 meter swimming pool is large enough to swim some laps and is also securely fenced.
HD television with all Spanish channels up to date (some can be set to bilingual audio) and access to Netflix and YouTube. Books and travel guides (in Spanish, Dutch, English and French). Original prints, photos and paintings on the walls give the place a personal touch.
We, the Spanish/Dutch owners also live in the valley and are as self-sufficient as possible, with an organic vegetable garden, our own water source and solar panels (with back-up from the mains). All our surrounding land and the (low maintenance) gardens are created and maintained in a natural way, without the use of pesticides, and always taking into account the difficult mountain climate (hot dry summers and cold winters, as well as a big day and night difference in temperatures). We offer our holiday home to nature lovers, families, bird watchers, hikers, peace-seeking couples and anyone looking for a relaxing holiday spot.
There is air conditioning in all bedrooms and in the living room, for cooling in the summer and heating in the winter. There is also a wood stove for extra heating.
There is a free and fast Wifi connection (Starlink), very suitable for home workers who want to come for a longer period of time.
The house is far from the daily hustle and bustle, but within walking distance (25 minutes) of the nearby village of Arriate. There you will find banks, ATMs, small supermarkets, restaurants, terraces, tapas bars and everything a holidaymaker needs. Ronda is only an 8-kilometer drive away, but other Andalusian cities such as Cordoba, Granada, Seville, Marbella and Malaga are also within day-travel distance. From Malaga airport it is about a 90-minute drive to the holiday home. Access to the house is via paved country lanes (except for about 200 meters in the middle). At the end, however, there is a sharp bend and a steep descent, which can be reached by any type of car.
Ronda, just 8 km away, is one of the most beautiful towns in Andalusia, steeped in history. It is located on a towering plateau in the mountains of the province of Malaga. The plateau is divided in two by a 90-metre-deep gorge, 'El Tajo', and forms the natural separation between the old and the new Ronda. This gorge is spanned by a stone bridge, Puente Nuevo, and offers breathtaking views. The shopping area of Ronda, where some traditional shops can still be found, is located in the new part of the city. However, the most enchanting walks can be found in the old town, where the Moorish and Roman atmosphere can be tasted on every street corner.
The nearby village of Arriate offers banks, small supermarkets and other shops that you need on a daily basis. This charming village is also known for its cheap and cozy tapas bars and also has a number of good restaurants.
Ronda is very central to all the cities worth visiting that can be easily visited in one day, such as Cordoba (Mezquita), Granada (Alhambra - book well in advance!), Seville (Giralda and Reales Alcazares), Malaga (Picasso Museum) and Gibraltar and Marbella/Costa del Sol.
We have been renting out our house since 2002, but in the years between 2020 and 2024 there were several reasons why we could not rent out. First because we lived in it for 8 months during a major renovation of our own house. Immediately afterwards, the COVID-19 period started and when travel finally started to get going again, major work was started in our area with the construction of a (much-needed!) sewage treatment plant. As much as the noise pollution from its construction caused us (rental) problems, we are happy that after more than two years we have that behind us and now have a clean river running along our land as a big bonus point.
To relax after those hectic periods and after an illness, we rented out the house to a Dutch-Spanish family for a year last year. They have now bought their own house in the area, so we are ready again and are looking forward to receiving guests from all over the world!
