Additional information

Our holiday home is a townhouse with 3 floors and a roof terrace.

The house is located in the center of Guaro, a typical Andalucian white village with over 2000 inhabitants.

On the ground floor are the living room and kitchen. On the first floor we find a double bedroom and bathroom. On the second floor is another double bedroom and a workspace.

The roof is a terrace with beautiful views of the surrounding environment. The roof in 2008, partly covered with a wooden roof and a large dining table.

Guaro is a few hundred meters height at the edge of the Sierra de las Nieves. In half an hour you are on the Costa del Sol. From the Costa Guaro is nothing to notice. The village itself is completely unchanged and tourists are still rare!

In the village you can have your groceries (7 days per week) and there are several cafes and restaurants.

On a beautiful place is a modern swimming pool with a view of the village. Coin in the nearby town you will find large supermarkets with everything else you need.
Guaro is located approximately 350 meters above sea level at the edge of the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park, a UNESCO-designated biosphere. Some well-known and lesser known places in the area: Coin (11 km) - the nearest town. Handy for shops and nightlife. Marbella (22 km) - known as a resort for the jet with many golf courses in the immediate vicinity. Malaga (45 km) - capital of the province with a large castle and beautiful cathedral. Córdoba (210 km) - once the capital of the most impressive empire of the Arab world, including the huge mosque / cathedral (built in the 8th-10th century) and Roman ruins. Seville (315 km) - capital of Andalusia and according to many the most beautiful place in Spain.
Guaro is a village in the province of Málaga and thus forms part of the autonomous region of Andalusia. The name of Andalusia is derived from the Arabic Al-Andaluz. In the period from 711 until 1492, so for 781 years, namely, Spain was largely occupied by the Moors, as the North African Muslims were then called. Longest knew the Moors in Granada to maintain, but on January 2, 1492 was also the last Moorish kingdom. A few months later Columbus discovered America and it was 1492 for the Catholic Spaniards the most famous year in its history. The Moors were gone, but the last piece of Al-Andaluz still called Andalusia is the largest region of Spain. More information about the important things in Andalusia, with many beautiful pictures, see the chapter "Andalusia." The Andalusian landscape has many peaks and valleys, especially in coastal areas. Thus situated in Andalusia, the highest mountain in mainland Spain, Mulhacén (in the Sierra Nevada in Granada). The Sierra de las Nieves near Guaro, an offshoot of the Serrania de Ronda, one of the most beautiful mountain regions of Andalusia and is co- therefore recognized as a UNESCO biosphere. From Casa Sonrisa you can make excellent hiking tours. A wonderful tour of the Sierra de las Nieves via Guaro and a large number of trails in Andalusia, for example in the booklet 'Guide to Andalucia and the Costa del Sol: A landscape guide' (1999) of John and Christine Oldfield, publisher Sunflower (ISBN 1-85691-129-2) For many, of course, the Costa del Sol (the coast of the sun) is the big attraction. The nearest seaside resort on the Costa from Guaro is the impressive Marbella, home to the jet. You drive this from Guaro via the A355 to Monda. This road leads through a spectacular steep canyon along Ojen in less than a half hour straight to Marbella. If you would prefer a quieter beach, you should continue in the direction of Estepona.
Below you will find information about major cities in southern Spain: ANTEQUERADeze beautiful city with many historic buildings located along the road from Malaga to Cordoba. The streets are narrow and if you want to park before you begin to buy a parking ticket at a ticket office or official circular. If you're in the area, Antequera is certainly worth a visit, especially because the view from the ruins of the Alcazaba (Moorish castle) above the city. Near Antequera, in many hundreds of meters, lies the spectacular nature reserve of El Torcal, a good walking area with jagged limestone formations (karst mountains). Not far from Antequera and El Torcal is also the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, where a large part of the year huge numbers of flamingos are! You can admire them without binoculars, it is a magnificent spectacle. However, if the water during the summer from the lagoon is mostly evaporated, pulling the flamingos verder.CORDOBAVan the 8th to the 11th century, Cordoba was the cultural capital of the Arab world. In the 10th century, Córdoba was the largest city in Western Europe, with more than 100,000 inhabitants. There was also a large number of mosques. The biggest tourist attraction of Cordoba is therefore the main mosque from the 7th to 10th century, and is now Mezquita-Catedral management. In this was one of the largest mosques in the world, and actually that still applies. The building is in the 16th century with a cathedral in the center of the building and thus become a Christian sanctuary. Believe it or not, but the mosque is so great that a lot of oversized cathedral only 10% of the floor takes up! This city of Granada at the foot of the Sierra Nevada is famous for its magnificent Alhambra (about which more in a moment). But Granada itself, especially the old town (Albayzín) is also worth a visit. For example, a (baroque) cathedral and the Capilla Real (Royal Chapel), where Ferdinand and Isabel his bier, the royal principals of Columbus. They lie there together with their heir Joan the Mad, in the Netherlands next to her more famous husband Philip the Schone.Wellicht because of the Moorish history of Granada center attracts youth an alternative to, for example, a large number of Moroccan food and tea houses. The tapas in Granada, sometimes even free, are famous for their large size. From the elevated Plaza San Nicolás has a magnificent view of the Alhambra, so it can be pretty busy around sunset. The Alhambra (Generalife and its garden complex) is a Moorish palace complex. It was built by the Nasrid king family in the 12th to the 14th century. Not only the neighboring Spanish Catholic kings, but also the entire Arab world dropped by the stunning architecture of the Alhambra inspired. Only the mosque is (obviously?) Disappeared here are now a Catholic church and a palace for Charles V, which is also a unique architecture heeft.Omdat the Alhambra is a world famous landmark, it makes sense to pre-book tickets via the Internet, although the problems in the newsstand not be so bad if it does occur (we have several times been without the cards were). Malaga Many tourists know only from Malaga airport, but so do the city deficit. Firstly, Malaga attractions which alone a visit to the city justify the recently opened Picasso Museum (Palacio de Buenavista on Calle San Agustín) - Picasso in Málaga born - the huge cathedral, Roman ruins (including a theater) and the Alcazaba, a Moorish fortress in Nasridenstijl same as the Alhambra in Granada.Maar Málaga is also just a nice, attractive city that strongly resembles Seville, with a beautiful park along the Mediterranean, several terraces, shopping and long ( to the west) the famous beach bars where fresh fish is grilled directly. The celebrations for Semana Santa (Easter) and the annual feria in August are also attractions in Malaga wereldformaat.RONDAHet beautiful town of Ronda is just 60 kilometers from Guaro. The route to it has been worth it: The A-366 in an hour winds 55 km along the Sierra de las Nieves and the Serrania de Ronda. Ronda is one of the major tourist destinations of Andalusia but it is a very Spanish city gebleven.Behalve the attractive center with the bridges spanning the Tajo, the old town is also an attraction. You find here a museum on the many bandits in the history of Ronda (Museo del Bandolero, Calle Armiñan, 65), old city walls and several historic churches. Important are also a number of Moorish buildings, including gates, Moorish bridge, a spring (La Mina) with 365 steps from above to achieve, and a beautifully restored Moorish bathhouse (hammam).
Casa Sonrisa is located in Guaro, a village with over two thousand inhabitants which is beautifully situated in a green valley. While various villages and towns nearby summer flooded with foreign tourists, Guaro is a real Spanish village where the culture is paramount. Guaro one enjoys life - there is a strikingly large number of pubs! On Thursday there is also a big market in the Avenida de Andalucía. There are several local supermarkets, including a Coviran less than 50 meters from Casa Sonrisa (closer and with a greater range than the average grocery store ...). Besides the usual annual festivals (see table below), is in september last few years the Festival de Luna Mora place. This festival is famous throughout the region and offers various cultural activities on the theme of Christian, Moorish and Jewish traditions that have formed along Andalusia.

Guaro is located in the valley of the River Guadalhorce, especially in a hilly landscape with almond and olive trees.

Originally, the village a little further which is now Guaro el Viejo, near the road to Ronda (A366). Guaro el Viejo lay at the foot of a tower which was part of a network of towers from the Moorish tijd.Coín Guaro and were only conquered by the Christians in 1485, seven years before the fall of the last Moorish stronghold Granada. In 1614 Guaro by King Philip IV even named the province as a reward for the services of Don Juan de Sotomayor Carilla de la Vega. It is now part of the province Málaga.Het Located on a hill. At the top, near Casa Sonrisa, is the 16th-century church of San Miguel. This church was destroyed in the 17th century and recently restored in 1936. Near Guaro area you will find near Cerro del Polvillar remains from the Roman tijd.De nearest big city is Coín, where such restaurants and cinemas, but also practical issues such as supermarkets and garages of all known car brands.
