In the summer of 2022 we bought this house, called Casa Citron. And now our house is also your home. So enjoy all the beauty that Casa Citron and its surroundings have to offer.

Location
Casa Citron is a very idyllic and quiet house in the hills. Just a few minutes' drive from the beautiful white mountain village of Cómpeta and the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama nature reserve. The nearest beach is 25 minutes by car. The Balcon d'Europa in Nerja is 25 km away. And Malaga airport is less than an hour's drive away. For those who want to spend a little longer in the car, places such as Granada and Ronda can also be reached within 1.5 to 2 hours.

The house

The house itself is wonderfully sheltered in the hills. A fairly large swimming pool is open from May to September and is heated by the sun. In the garden there are lemon trees that give lemons all year round. On the somewhat rougher part on the slope in front of the house there are dozens of olive trees and some grapevines.

The house has a neat and fully equipped kitchen. There is a Nespresso machine, a regular filter coffee machine and also a Nespresso Vertuo machine (note: these are larger cups that can only be ordered at Nespresso!), a toaster, a large refrigerator, an oven and microwave. 

There are 2 bedrooms; a master bedroom with a brand new double, large box spring and an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet. And the second bedroom with a single box spring and a French bed (1.40 m wide). Both rooms have plenty of closet space and air conditioners to get through the hot nights.

Of course also a large bathroom with bath, shower (in bath) toilet, bidet and sink. There is also a dining room and a living room with large flat screen TV. For the cooler evenings in winter, the house is equipped with central heating, not common for Spanish houses. Of course there is a washing machine with which the holiday laundry can be done. By the way, we appreciate it very much if the bed linen (and possibly towels) is washed once in a stay longer than a week.

Did we mention that there is lightning-fast Wi-Fi? Well here it is.

Outside
Outside you can eat in the shade of a porch. For example, from the freshly grilled meat on the gas BBQ in the outdoor kitchen. A hammock and lovely sun loungers by the pool make it difficult to leave the house. Yet there is plenty of reason for this. For example, for walks in the mountains around Cómpeta, but also for the countless restaurants in the village that give price-quality a new meaning! If you really want to eat at star level, go to Bodegas Bentomiz, from the Dutch couple André and Clara. Take a taxi, because the accompanying wine pairing from our own vineyard should not be missed with the 5- or 10-course lunch. Golf is also possible, an 18-hole golf course is less than half an hour's drive away.

Explanation of the prices & cancellation policy

Checking in and out:
If new tenants arrive the same day, the check-out time is 11:00 am. If not, later check-out is possible in consultation.

Gas/water/electricity:
Despite the high energy rates, water, gas and electricity are included in the rent. However, we do have a fair use policy. This means that afterwards we compare the use with the average consumption. If this deviates too much, the additional costs will be deducted from the deposit.

Pets:
We love animals, but have decided not to allow pets in the house.

Final cleaning:
Costs for the final cleaning of the house and laundry costs for bed linen and towels are €150.

Cancellations:
If the tenant wishes to cancel the booking for whatever reason, the tenant must always confirm this to the landlord by e-mail (even if this has already been passed on to the landlord by telephone, for example). The landlord will charge the following amounts: depending on the date of written cancellation by the renter:
  • cancellation more than 3 months before the start of the rental period: free of charge
  • cancellation between the 90th and the 60th day before the start of the rental period: 25% of the rental price
  • cancellation between the 59th and 30th day before the start of the rental period: 50% of the rental price
  • cancellation less than 30 days before the start of the rental period: 100% of the rental price
If the tenant only announces on the commencement date or during the rental period that he will not use the rented property (anymore), he will still owe the full rental price.
