If you like to see dolphins swim by during breakfast, if you want private and direct access to the beach, and if you like the sound of the sea, Thatch by the Sea is "the place to be." We have direct access to beach and sea, and also have a private swimming pool.We are 4 languages and speak Dutch, French, English, German and some Spanish.

We are centrally located on the Dolphin Coast and are 2 hours away from Hluluwe-Umfolozi a big 5 national game park, St Lucia Wetland and the famous Drakensberg with Giants and Champahgn Castle.
Moreover, we are only 30 minutes away from King Shaka International Airport (43 km). We are about 2 hours drive from Hluluwe-Imfolozi big 5 game park and St Lucia world heritage site.

You can sleep 10 people in our house, we have 5 bedrooms, 4 in the house and 1 in the flatlet (annex). @ rooms have sea view, the 3 others are on the side and back of the house (1 with 2 single beds and 2 others with queen beds). The flatlet on the street side has an ensuite bathroom, a small lounge room and kitchen.
In the kitchen of the hood house we have a dishwasher, gas / electric stove, two-door refrigerator with freezer and microwave. Expresso machine and wide choice of kitchen equipment is also available.
the house has been completely renovated in 2018.

Baby cot and chair can be made available.

House comes with daily cleaning service of 5 hours, as well as garden and pool service. Our maid cooks breakfast and evening feats for an extra payment. Linen and towels are included in the rent. DsTV is present and included in price. If extra cleaning, washing or ironing is required, this can be arranged with the maid (50R per hour).

Our house is secured with an indoor and outdoor alarm. Outside the house has beams and around the house and in the garden are CCTV cameras present House is secured with indoor alarm, with several outside beams around house and garden and outside CCTV cameras.

Our garage has an automatic gate and you can park 2 cars.

Explanation of the prices & cancellation policy

Landlord will charge the following amounts, depending on the date of writtencancellation by the tenant:

Cancellation more than 3 months before the start of the rental period: free of charge
Cancellation between the 90th and the 60th day before the start of the rental period: 25% of the rental price
Cancellation between the 59th and the 30th day before the start of the rental period: 50% of the rental price
Cancellation less than 30 days before the start of the rental period: 100% of the rental price

If the tenant only announces on the start date or during the rental period that he will no longer use the rented property, he will continue to owe the full rent.

Additional actives in the area - At Comfort you can take a ULM flights which is really spectacular. They fly over the sea and land area near our house. - In Compensation (next to Ballito) the Sugar Rush farm is where you can follow mountain bike trails. They also have a children's playground, small putting area and nice open-door restaurant. - Ballito offers superb shopping opportunities and dining facilities at the Lifestyle Center, Shopping Mall and Ballito Junction. Friday night, Saturday during day and Sunday at lunch time there is live music. There is also a great restaurant in Dunkirk Estate, called Ray's Kitchen reservations are needed to allow the gate managers to let you in. At the beach side of Ballito you will also find several nice bars and restaurants. In Westbrook Beach, during the weekends there is live music in Bumps at the Beach and food and drinks are served. - Sunday morning the golden mile walk in Durban is really a place to be! Use the M4 to drive there as you will follow the coastline and come across beautiful beaches.? - In Zinkwazi Coastal Estate there is a Fairmont 5 star hotel that serves nice brunches. - In Umhlanga you can also go and have dinner or lunch at the Oyster Box which is famous for its food. - Sea fishing can be arranged in Zinkwazi through 'Ocean Brian' (further North). - Hluluwi-Imfolozi big 5 game park is about 2 hrs drive. This was previously the hunting ground of Zulu King Shaka and has very diverse scenaries. Hluluwe has large elephant hurds, buffalo hurds and is most renown for its large amount of rhinos. Most of the rhinos in Southern Africa voice from the genepool of Hluluwe. - St Lucia Wetland Park is worthwhile visiting. You can do a river safari (2 hrs) where you will see crocs as well as hippos and large amount of water birds. It is about 2 hrs driving from the house. - Closeby are also the Drakensberg, closest access is Underberg which is also about 2 hrs driving.
