Quinta do Retiro is located in a small, secluded valley with a terraced landscape and covers approximately 9 hectares. The site is located at an altitude of 350 meters just outside the village of Covas in the region of Beira Litoral (Central Portugal).
This typical Portuguese farmhouse has been rebuilt into a small-scale holiday estate with four holiday homes and a small nature campsite. In the middle of the site, within walking distance of the holiday homes, is a beautifully landscaped ecological swimming pool for shared use that is filled with water from our own well.
Due to natural filtering (filter bed with stones, plants and a few small fish) this is clear swimming water. Next to the pool is a sun terrace with a bar (self-service). For the children there is also a playground with sandpit, swing, slide and trampoline. On the quinta there are many fruit trees, olives and grapevines and a river with some rocks and waterfalls cuts through the terrain.
This undiscovered region with lovely, but also rugged and hilly area is a paradise for peace seekers, hikers and nature lovers. The mountain ridge and Serra da Estrela National Park are about 30 minutes away by car. In the area you will find many authentic villages such as the slate village of Piódão or you can visit one of the typical Portuguese markets such as Tábua (approx. 10km) and Arganil (approx. 20km). A visit to the student city of Coimbra or a day trip to Mira on the Atlantic coast (approx. 95km) is also worthwhile.
Holiday home Casa Retiro is a detached villa with lots of privacy. Comfortable and attractively furnished. The view over the stream and the valley is beautiful. Lots of sunshine in summer and winter, but even on the hottest day of the year it remains pleasantly cool in this house.
This villa is built on a slope and therefore has three 'split' levels, accessible via a narrow staircase with 4 steps. Holiday home Casa Retiro is perfect for two people, but can also accommodate up to 4 guests when using the sofa bed in the living room. Casa Retiro is very popular with guests who choose to stay longer in spring or autumn. In summer, an extra small tent for the children can be placed free of charge in the garden of Casa Retiro. Thanks to its secluded location, the villa offers a lot of privacy.

The spacious, open and well-equipped kitchen is equipped with a five-burner induction hob, an electric oven, a fridge freezer and a dishwasher. A staircase leads to a lower floor where the bedroom is located.

Large veranda of approximately 50 m² with natural shade from a huge kiwi plant, equipped with wooden garden furniture and two sunbeds.
