Quinta do Retiro is one of the most beautiful places in Portugal located in a hidden valley just outside the village of Covas, (Tabua) far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The typical Portuguese farmhouse has been transformed into a small-scale holiday park with various rental accommodations, a charming mini-campsite with private pitches and a beautiful ecological swimming pool. The quiet surroundings give every opportunity for walking, cycling or just lazing around in the park. In the area there are many sights and visits in the field of history, culture, children's entertainment or just fun.
Quinta do Retiro is located in a small, secluded valley with a terraced landscape and covers approximately 14 hectares. The site is located at an altitude of 350 meters just outside the village of Covas in the region of Beira Litoral (Central Portugal). This typical Portuguese farmhouse has been rebuilt into a small-scale holiday estate with four holiday homes and a small nature campsite. In the middle of the site, within walking distance of the holiday homes, is a beautifully landscaped ecological swimming pool for shared use that is filled with water from our own well. Due to natural filtering (filter bed with stones, plants and a few small fish) this is clear swimming water. Next to the pool is a sun terrace with a bar (self-service). For the children there is also a playground with sandpit, swing, slide and trampoline. On the quinta there are many fruit trees, olives and grapevines and a river with some rocks and waterfalls cuts through the terrain. Gold Award 2016.
This undiscovered region with lovely, but also rugged and hilly area is a paradise for peace seekers, hikers and nature lovers. The mountain ridge and Serra da Estrela National Park are about 30 minutes away by car. In the area you will find many authentic villages such as the slate village of Piódão or you can visit one of the typical Portuguese markets such as Tábua (approx. 10km) and Arganil (approx. 20km). A visit to the student city of Coimbra or a day trip to Mira on the Atlantic coast (approx. 95km) is also worthwhile.
Our Quinta also has a modest camping function with beautiful grass or gravel pitches for Caravans, Campers and tents, with rental of 2 caravans and various (fully equipped) tents with capacity for a few, or groups of up to 50 people.
The holiday homes are completely separate from the campsite. Feel free to inquire about the possibilities!
