Quinta do Retiro is located in a small, secluded valley with a terraced landscape and covers approximately 14 hectares. The site is located at an altitude of 350 meters just outside the village of Covas in the region of Beira Litoral (Central Portugal).
This typical Portuguese farmhouse has been rebuilt into a small-scale holiday estate with four holiday homes and a small nature campsite. In the middle of the site, within walking distance of the holiday homes, is a beautifully landscaped ecological swimming pool for shared use that is filled with water from our own well. Due to natural filtering (filter bed with stones, plants and a few small fish) this is clear swimming water.
Next to the pool is a sun terrace with a bar (self-service). For the children there is also a playground with sandpit, swing, slide and trampoline. On the quinta there are many fruit trees, olives and grapevines and a river with some rocks and waterfalls cuts through the terrain.
This undiscovered region with lovely, but also rugged and hilly area is a paradise for peace seekers, hikers and nature lovers. The mountain ridge and Serra da Estrela National Park are about 30 minutes away by car. In the area you will find many authentic villages such as the slate village of Piódão or you can visit one of the typical Portuguese markets such as Tábua (approx. 10km) and Arganil (approx. 20km). A visit to the student city of Coimbra or a day trip to Mira on the Atlantic coast (approx. 95km) is also worthwhile.
Casa Mimosa is an authentic, attractive and detached holiday home that is partly built in wood inside and outside. Due to its location in the middle of nature and the huge wooden veranda, this holiday home is ideal for real nature lovers.
The house is comfortably furnished and has a luxurious 4-6 person private sauna (for a fee). From the veranda you have a beautiful view over the river and you can hear the soft murmur of the waterfall in the background. Near the house are the trampoline and the playhouse (shared use), making this holiday home also ideal for families with young children. The house can accommodate 2 to 6* people (or even more if on the
lawn under the veranda (without extra charge) an extra children's tent is set up).
