Albufeira was once a quiet fishing village, but in the past 50 years it has turned into one of the largest resorts in the Algarve. Yet the beautifully preserved old town and therefore worth a visit!

The old town is a maze of narrow, medieval streets, a Moorish colonnades and beautifully maintained, whitewashed houses. In the rocks is a tunnel carved and this leads to the main beach with beautiful sand cliffs.

Another popular beach is the beach where fishermen called on the early morning still see the fishing boats come in and see the fishermen busy with bringing in their catch. You have the opportunity to coast surfing, parasailing and a boat trip is possible.

After a day at the beach, pick up a cafe, for example in the central square flanked by several streets with souvenir shops, eateries and bars. But leave this busy part of town also look behind you and go in a quiet back street drinking a glass of port with the local residents.
