Malaika was built in 1998, partly stone and wood. It is a very cozy house with a warm glow. The view in the Rift Valley is breathtaking. The house is very suitable for one or two families or for groups up to 10 people.

From the balcony you will see the Aberdare range that reaches 4200mtr. Right in front of you from Naivasha lake with herds of buffalo, zebra, impala and many other animals. Behind the lake is Mount Longonot. On your right you will see the Mau Escarpment. The house, is located in the Rift Valley in a very safe resort include an 18 hole championship golf course. To the site is an electric fence to keep out the dangerous wildlife. On site and also in your garden you will find zebras, impalas and other friendly wildlife.

Around the golf course has a close and friendly community of mostly European people located in Dutch, English, German, Scandinavian and American descent.
Malaika consists of a main house and a newly added construction.

The main house has on the ground floor a living / dining room with fireplace and patio doors to terrace and garden. Furthermore, there are three bedrooms, including a small bunk room. Through the staircase leads to a loft with a bedroom, a work area, a pool table and a large balcony with the best view you can imagine.

The construction consists of a sitting / dining room with fireplace. The staircase takes you upstairs to a bedroom and adjoining bathroom and a balcony again with fantastic views.
Malaika located on the grounds of the Great Rift Valley Lodge under management of Heritage. This is owned by the President of Kenya.

At the lodge belongs the golf course, where it is never crowded, tennis courts and swimming pools. Here you can also book private safaris.

In addition, the lodge has several restaurants, bars, shops, business centers and other things you can expect from a luxury lodge.

The house is easily accessible by road. You rent a car or van with a reliable company. Here we can assist. Count on 40-50 € per day. Then drive out of the city, continue straight on the A 104. This is an excellent two lane road. After about 107 km you will see a green sign with Great Rift Valley Lodge on the left side of the road. Here, then turn left and drive 12 km along a dirt road until you arrive at the lodge. Here you can ask for the reception of the lodge and there you get the key.
The house is provided by Daniel, our house steward. Daniel is the most reliable, friendly person you will become attached quickly.

TRIPS.
Crater lake is a game sanctuary 13 km from our house. After the gate right around 13 km. Here you can see lots of wildlife and you may leave the car. Beware of buffalo. Which are unreliable and unpredictable. We go here often for lunch and then do a game drive. $ 17 pp, but reserve first. (*CONTENT HIDDEN*).

Cruise on the lake. David Kilo calls, (*CONTENT HIDDEN*). In the lake are about 1200 hippos. Along the banks you will see lots of wildlife.

Lake Nakuru National Park. Located behind the house on the other side of the mountain. Back to the A104 and turn left to Nakuru. Follow signs to park.

Here are many rhinos, lions, leopards and other wildlife. Nice to stay in the Lake Nakuru Lodge. If you call just to say that you are a resident and Green Park (the name of our mountain) lives. Then you get a better price for the night. (*CONTENT HIDDEN*). Take plenty of bucks for entrance fees. $ 80 pp. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere

Aberdare National Park. A 104 turn right and after about 8 km turn left towards Kinangkop. The Aberdares are known for their elephants. It is very high and there are very beautiful waterfalls. Also can fish for trout.

Climb Mount Longonot. drive through Naivasha town at Longonot National Park. The mountain is for anyone with good health easy to climb. After about 1 hour you are on the rim of the crater and a round crater walk takes about 11/2 hours. Good shoes, and supplies!
Hell's Gate National Park. Lies from the balcony seen right across the lake. There is a spectpaculaire canyon where you can walk through it. Here the film tomb raider is included with Angelina Jolie.

The Masai Mara is about a 5 hour drive from the house. Through the lodge can be booked instead. Also assume flights from one of the airstrips.

MEDICAL CARE.
There is always a highly educated daktari available on site. This even has our daughter, who was hit on her head attached by a golf ball without scars.

GOLF.
The golf course is one of the most beautiful in East Africa. There is always room and the green fee is € 13 for 18 holes. mandatory caddies. On Thursday club night and you're welcome. Begins 1530 with caddy

We are Inske and Marius den Dulk and, as a young married couple in 1972 sent to Curacao. Hence our love for Curacao. We have also lost our heart to Kenya and divide our time between these two wonderful places since our retirement. Two totally different locations, but both places we feel quite at home. We hope you will enjoy as we do these special homes.

Additional information

KLM and Kenya Airways (KQ) flies daily to Nairobi. In the morning and evening. If you fly with KLM, it is a day flight back and whisked back. KQ reversed. Most people take the night flight with KQ. Arrival in the early morning and then take a taxi to the rental company. We recommend Www.rasuls.com. Here you can rent a van (9 seater) or Landcruiser for a reasonable price. Rasul will show you the way to the Uhuru Highway (A104) ways and you just keep driving for about 107 km. There you turn left at a sign Great Rift Valley Lodge. Driving in Kenya is not that bad. As you drive defensively and as little as possible overtaking. Rental cars all have a speed reduction of 80 km. We always do our shopping on the go with a big supermarket. Rasul can point the way to Nakumat to Uhuru Highway. Then you have everything you need for the first few days. What you forget, you can get in the store at the golf course. There is even a liquor store on the premises! For other shopping you can drive to Naivasha town. For the return trip, it is convenient to travel with KLM. Then you drive during the day to Nairobi, return the car and goes with a taxi to the airport for your overnight flight back. Kenya is a very open country with friendly and helpful people.
