Centrally located in Tuscany within driving distance of Montecatini Terme, Pistoia, Lucca, Firenze, Pisa, Viareggio the seaside resort on the Mediterranean Sea is an hour's drive away. The marble caves of Carara are a 1.5 hour drive along the sea as well as the chic resort of Forte dei Marmi. In the same direction you can also go to Cinque Terre.
If you prefer to go into the mountains, you can go to Abetone in winter, a ski area, with villages such as Vellano, also known as Little Switzerland, on the way.
Of course you will find many typical Italian restaurants in the whole area where you can eat very well at a reasonable price.
There are challenging routes in the mountains for mountain bikers and racing cyclists. The region is known as a training ground for the pros.
