What is recommended is a boat trip to the Boromeo Islands near Stresa.Isola Bella and Isola Pescatore are interesting to visit because of the castles, beautiful gardens with white peacocks.
You can also enjoy walking on the Strada Romagna, an old Roman road over the hills from the 13th century to Cannobio or Cannero (starting point: the stairs diagonally opposite Hotel del Lago.)
Verbania about 25 km to the south is a somewhat larger city with a pleasant center. To the north (also about 25 km are the internationally known Swiss cities of Ascona (jazz festival) and Locarno (film festival). Can also be reached by boat from Brisago via the Isolo Brisago with tropical garden.
Como on Lago di Como is also only over an hour's drive from Carmine inf. An old luxury city, beautifully situated on Lake Como.
