Villa

Family-owned Italian country house

We offer a spacious, three-storey Italian family home, consisting of two kitchens, three bathrooms and three bedrooms, accommodating up to 8 people. The house is quite spacious and has a huge roof terrace with stunning views of the local landscape of hills and valleys filled with olive groves, vineyards and orchards with the Alps in the background. The roof terrace has a partially covered dining area and a loggia.

In addition, there is a mansarda (belvedere) on the top floor with views of the Mediterranean Sea and the valley. To the front of the house you can sit outside on the walled patio. The living room has a Smart TV (also satellite connection). There is also an X-box one. There is fixed WIFI available. On the terrace there is an outdoor kitchen and a table tennis table. There are also many DVDs with cartoons and there is a Wii. There is air conditioning in the living room and the top 2 bedrooms (both cooling and heating).

Not suitable for wheelchairs or someone who has difficulty walking due to stairs in the house. The house is located in Arnasco, a traditional Italian village on the Flower Riviera in northwestern Italy (Liguria). Olive cultivation has been the main activity of the village since 1600. That's why Arnasco is home to a specialized olive oil cooperative: Coop.

Olivicola di Arnasco, located on the village square where our house is located. There is also a museum and a shop where you can buy olive oil and local products. On the terrace in front of the shop you can enjoy a delicious espresso,  cappuccino or something else. Friendly locals, the tranquility of the natural surroundings and the gentle influences of the Mediterranean Sea, make Arnasco an enjoyable place to visit for tourists from all over the world, a beautiful retreat just a few kilometers from the hustle and bustle of the beaches.

A number of renowned exponents from the art world (including Kirkeby and Kriesner) have taken up residence and left their mark. Arnasco also has a church, pharmacy, post office, hairdresser and a small supermarket a minute's walk from the house. Arnasco is also the home of Ristorante Da Bianca! This restaurant is definitely not to be missed. Here they make delicious authentic and traditional Italian food. You won't find the Panna Cotta better anywhere!  The owner also runs the small shop next door with fresh bread rolls every morning. In addition, because of its hilly landscape and natural beauty, Arnasco is a perfect place for hiking and cycling. The steep and winding road that leads to Arnasco is especially popular with cycling enthusiasts.

In the nearby coastal town of Albenga you can not only go to the beach but also play tennis/padel and in Garlenda you can play golf or take golf lessons. There is also the small Fiat 500 Club Italy museum. Beaches and promenade are nearby. 20-25 minutes away in the town of Ceriale is the Aquatic Park Le Caravelle, a large water park with several slides. The seaside resorts of Loano (with harbour) and Alassio are also nearby.

In the summer months there is a pizza party every Thursday on the square near the olive oil shop!

We are legal and tax professionals. We have three children: three boys aged 16, 19 and 21 who are studying. We work a lot and study hard and that's why we really enjoy our holidays in Italy. Our children love to swim in the Mediterranean Sea while the parents enjoy an espresso or cappuccino on the promenade. We love hiking in the mountains and along the ancient Roman paths with their remains.

Additional information

Arnasco is in a very favorable geographic location for a number of reasons. Arnasco is easily accessible from abroad as it is just over an hour's drive from Nice Airport and approximately 45 minutes from Genoa, a city with both an airport and a port. Arnasco is close to two lively seaside towns, Albenga (8 miles) and Alassio (10 miles), both about a 15 to 20 minute drive. A little further are Monaco (100 km), Florence (320) and Milan (215 km). Every Thursday, the charming square by the olive oil shop comes alive with the now traditional pizza in Piazza, where Santino Viaggio, a top pizza chef, offers a range of really delicious and original pizzas. In addition to the traditional margherita and marinara, Santino actually offers the zucchini pizza with gorgonzola and trombetta and the Arnasco pizza, basically a kind of crispy focaccia stuffed (going out) with tomatoes, Taggiasca olives in brine, basil and brigasca toma, all washed down naturally with an excellent extra virgin olive oil from the cooperative. A real and surprising delight that tastes like Liguria. If you feel there the sympathy of the two Patricia, souls (along with Renata) of the cooperative, the good Ligurian wine, the coolness of the Arroscia Valley, that's it, you know where to spend next Thursday evening ... way, reservation is required, always on 0182 76 11 78 or sign up at the olive oil shop!

An old Roman connecting road runs between Albenga and Alassio. This Roman road is unknown to many tourists and is missing from most brochures. Still, it is worth walking this way. A section of this road, Via Julia Augusta, is one of the oldest roads in Italy. It was first used by Emperor Augusto around the year 12 BC. Between Albenga and Alassio there are many ancient monuments from Roman times along the Via Julia Augusto. Whole pieces of this are still in their original condition. Take a rest while walking to enjoy the beautiful views.

The Club is beautifully situated in the Lerrone Valley, one of the most beautiful and picturesque valleys of the Ligurian hinterland, surrounded by ancient olive groves and pine forests. Grotte di Toirano (Caves, Ethnographic Museum and Borgo di Toirano) Visit the Grotte Della Básura (Cave of the Witches) undoubtedly one of the most impressive caves. For millennia it was home to bears in hibernation. Evidence of their existence can be found in the form of bones, fossils, marks and scratches that can still be seen today. Most interesting is the evidence that cave dwellers lived there. Or the Grotte di Santa Lucia Inferiore This cave can be reached by a 120 meter long corridor from the end of Grotte della Básura. Beautiful images of flowers, made from the mineral aragonite, cover the walls. In some large ones you can find huge stalactites also covered in aragonite (a calcium carbonate with an orthorhombic structure). In addition, there is an Ethnographic Museum and the medieval village of Toirano.
