Fascinated from early youth by the literature of the naturalist current, she gets closer, thanks to her professional career, to the collective domains and the agrarian reform to which various writings devote. Multilingual researcher, fascinated by history and inexhaustible collector of old objects, tangible traces of the past, she is open to the world and, as in the time of the Enlightenment, likes that men progress towards knowledge and freedom.

Additional information

The Aosta Valley retains an important and varied cultural heritage, made up of castles, fortified houses and historic residences: the castle of Fénis, a crenellated fortress and spectacular residence; Sarre Castle, the Alpine residence of the Savoy royal family; the castle of Saint-Pierre seat of the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences; Sarriod de la Tour de Saint-Pierre castle with its medieval grotesque sculptures.
Photo of the castle of Fénis. Unlike other castles built for defense purposes, Fénis is not located on a promontory, but on a slight hillside. Its function, in fact, in contrast to the defensive apparatus with which it is endowed, was solely that of a prestigious seat of the Challant Family.
The Park embraces a vast territory of high mountains between the 650 m of the bottom of the valley and the 4061 m of the summit of Grand-Paradis. Larch and fir forests, vast alpine meadows, rocks, glaciers and waterfalls provide the ideal setting for a rich and varied fauna to live and to explore the wonderful world of the high mountains. Formerly the hunting reserve of the House of Savoy, it was the first park founded in Italy in 1922 with the aim of protecting the ibex from extinction. A dense network of paths meanders between the wonderful panoramas and allows curious encounters with the local fauna, easier in spring, when chamois and ibexes descend into the valley in search of the first grass.
The vestiges of the past refer to the ancient splendours of Augusta Praetoria, the city founded by the Romans, whose grandiose Arch dedicated to Emperor Augustus, the monumental Praetorian Gate, the Theatre, and the cryptoporticus can still be admired today. Aosta also preserves within it monuments, precious witnesses of the Middle Ages, Romanesque and Gothic masterpieces such as the monumental complex of Saint-Ours with its cloister, or the imposing Cathedral which recalls the splendor and grandeur of the patrons of the time.
