Welcome and enjoy  our holiday home, located on the outskirts of the authentic village of Gavalochori in the beautiful green province of Apakoronos on Crete. You will be welcomed by our caretaker couple. A basket of local products is waiting for you, including olive oil and honey for which Crete is so famous. A delicious Greek wine or Ouzo will also not be missing. 
From 2024 we will have our house for rent. Our guests were very satisfied (see reviews). We are happy and proud that this wonderful house, in which we have put so much energy and love, is also so appreciated by our guests.
We found this dream spot in 2021 and fell in love instantly. On the village, the atmosphere, but especially the beautiful unobstructed view of the Lefka Ori (white mountains). We turned the house into our own atmospheric place. In the months that we are in the Netherlands, we would like to let guests experience that Greek atmosphere.  The furniture is new and the kitchen has been renovated and painted. The bathroom is spacious with a shower, washbasin and toilet. The 2 bedrooms are next to each other, one with a 2-person box spring and one with a 1-person bed. The lovely 7-metre swimming pool is fantastic for cooling off during hot summer days. In the autumn of 2024, we had a pergola built by the pool to lie in the shade on hot days. In the spacious garden there are several places to sit  But wherever you sit, the view of the Lefka Ori is not lacking!
The sea is close by, only 5 kilometers away is Almyrida. A nice village with a beautiful beach and delicious fish restaurants. Reachable on foot in 40 minutes, a beautiful route through the forest and olive groves. You can get there in 5 minutes by car or scooter.
The slightly larger Kalyves, with several beaches, can be reached by car in about 10 minutes. You will also find a large supermarket in Kalyves and several good tavernas, butchers and bakeries.

Our house is ideal for 2 to 3 people. It is not suitable for children or people with walking difficulties because of the steps around the house.

Nature and environment
The house is located in the Greek countryside, on the outskirts of Gavalochori in a neighborhood with detached houses. It is a quiet street, where a herd of sheep and goats regularly walks through. There is a very nice, friendly atmosphere. Within 10 minutes you can walk to the center where you will find 2 supermarkets, 2 good restaurants, 1 kafenion with tasty simple meals and a bakery.
Gavalochori is a village where many artists and musicians live. Every year in the summer months you can enjoy music evenings. Stroll through the narrow streets and experience the authentic atmosphere of this village.

In the vicinity of Gavalochori you can find other beautiful, authentic villages such as: Douilana, Vamos, Kefalas, Armenoi and Drapanos. Each of these villages has good tavernas where you can eat delicious and affordable food (tips can be found in our information folder, which is in the house).
Beautiful (marked) walks have been set out in all villages. You walk through forests, olive groves and small villages, always with beautiful views to the white mountains, or along the coast with beautiful views over the azure blue sea.
