Unique apartment Schloss Gröbitz 15

Enjoy our completely renovated apartment in Schloss Gröbitz in the summer months. Experience the historic building, enjoy the culture of the region, visit cities such as Leipzig, Weimar and Dresden or relax in the peaceful shady garden. Also ideal for a holiday with children!

Apartment
The apartment is on the first floor of the Schloss. You reach it via the beautiful vaulted foyer on the ground floor, the unique spiral staircase in the tower and the stately hall on the first floor.

You enter the apartment through the living room. You will immediately notice the decorated stucco ceiling from 1721 and the large original double doors. The two high windows in an alcove give a view of the garden and the heated swimming pool. From the living room you go left to the large bedroom, and to the right, via a hallway, to the second small bedroom and the bathroom. All areas are fully and tastefully furnished.

The entire Schloss, including this apartment, has been renovated in recent years. Will be rented out for the first time in the summer of 2022, so everything is like new! During the renovation, we have kept as many of the original details as possible and worked with traditional, building-biological lime and chalk products. This means that each room has its own unique character.

The apartment does not have its own garden, but you can make free use of the communal garden and swimming pool. Garden chairs and a barbecue are available. The hall and dining room on the ground floor can also be used freely. There is also a municipal playground in front of the Schloss, which children can use.

The apartment is suitable for 4 people, an extra bed or cot can be added if needed. The apartment is rented including towels, bed linen, kitchen textiles, Wifi, energy, and so on. If necessary, a washing machine or other facilities can be used.

Because the entire renovation will not be ready until June 2022, we are still busy finishing the last dots of the interior. The interior of the apartment may therefore differ from what you see in the photos.

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

Gröbitz is located no more than 5 minutes from the A9 motorway (Berlin-Munich). Easy to reach, and ideal for day trips. The village, with 500 inhabitants, is built against a steep slope. The Schloss is at the top and, together with the church, forms the heart of the village. You walk along a picturesque stream down the slope, into the valley for a shorter or longer walk. Children can go into the valley on their own, because the village is virtually car-free. There are no shops in Gröbitz itself. A baker's truck comes to the village three times a week. There are also small shops in the neighboring village of Stößen (2km). A large shopping center is located in Leißling, about 6 km away.
Gröbitz is located on the edge of the Saale-Unstrut area, in the extreme south of Saxony-Anhalt. This area, not far from cities such as Leipzig, Halle, Dresden, Jena and Weimar, is also known as the Herzland der Deutsche Geschichte. This region already flourished in Romanesque times (from 1000 AD). Bach, Luther and Goethe, who each determined world history in their own field, have their roots here. The Second World War and the subsequent communist era have unmistakably left their mark. But now self-awareness is increasing in the former East Germany. There is a lively cultural climate in the cities, you can feel that a new dynamic is emerging. In large cities such as Leipzig and Dresden you can easily spend several days on shopping and culture. But there are also many pleasant smaller towns, such as Naumburg and Freyburg, and countless fortresses, castles, ruins that are well worth a visit. Had enough culture? Then a walk through the wine-growing areas is recommended (with a visit to a Weingut of course), a canoe trip on the Unstrut, or a visit to old lignite mining sites. There are also some long-distance bike paths that cut through the region. You can swim in the Freibad (open-air swimming pools), which you will find in many villages as a legacy from the GDR time. Nice beaches are also often laid out at old lignite excavations.
'Schloss Gröbitz' is actually the Herrenhaus des Ritterguts, or Gutshaus. In the village, however, the building is called 'Das Schloss', a name that we have adopted. In 1512 the Gutshaus was built by Rudolph von Bünau. You can see the staircase tower and some walls and vaults on the ground floor. In 1721 the building was largely rebuilt and has taken on the shape you see today. After the Second World War, the Gutshaus was nationalized and has fulfilled numerous functions for the community. First it served to receive 52 German refugees from Silesia. Later it housed a general practice, crèche, BSO, volunteer fire brigade, youth center, municipal office, library, rehearsal room for the men's choir, association room for rural women, and so on. In 2012, we adopted the building, which had been empty for five years, to make it a nice place for holidays. The renovation and renovation took a long time. We did most of it ourselves and of course also had to relate to regulations and monument conservation. But the building is now largely finished and we are proud of the result, which we would like to share with our guests! In 2022 we will rent out two apartments on the 1st floor, in 2023 two more apartments will be added and we will also offer more services.
