Betten Haus

The dining area is connected to the living room and offers a beautiful view of the garden and the hills. The large dining table in the room is extendable and can seat 12 people.

After dinner, you can relax in the evening with a crackling fire in the living room. The spacious, bright living room has a cozy wood-burning stove and sitting area. There is a television, a DVD player with various films, a radio/CD player, games and lots of reading material.

In addition, musical guests can enjoy themselves on the guitar and keyboard.

In the spacious kitchen there are extensive options for cooking together with a direct connection to the living room.

The new kitchen is equipped with a ceramic hob and hot air oven/grill, microwave, fridge with freezer, dishwasher, toaster, bread machine, coffee maker and kettle, cutlery and crockery. The pantry has enough space for groceries.

For large groups there is a smaller second kitchen upstairs with a sink, hob and oven. Next to the kitchens there is a separate laundry room with washing machine and dryer.

The downstairs bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink. This bathroom has a raised toilet and a folding shower seat, making it also suitable for the elderly.

The upstairs bathroom has a bath/shower, toilet and double sink.

On the ground floor is a large double room overlooking the garden.

On the 1st floor are 2 bedrooms with double beds 3 bedrooms with single beds.

All bedrooms have single mattresses. After an active day you can count on a quiet and peaceful night . The beds have good mattresses.

At the beginning of 2014, we succeeded in converting a few rooms below next to the garage into "Wellness Area".

A lockable door gives access to a changing and relaxing area with two sun loungers and a wood stove.

Elpe itself is a small village in the municipality Olsberg with 750 inhabitants and has a church and a coffee shop / lunchroom. Elpe organize a few local activities, but it is primarily a central and tranquil base for exploring the rest of Sauerland.

High Sauerland is a beautiful area for hiking, Nordic walking, cycling, mountain biking, climbing, motorcycling, golfing, skiing / snowboarding and cross country skiing. In Winterberg Olsberg, both 20 minutes away from Elpe, nice shops and a sauna. In Willingen, 25 minutes away from Elpe, is a large complex with swimming pools, spa and sauna facilities for a day of relaxation.

Lots of information and maps of the area are in the house. Information for enjoying the outdoors and daytrips with and without children.

Nature:

-Besides the walks from our house is especially Rothaar with a series of trails ideal for scenic tours and hike trails.

-In the vicinity are several lakes including the vast Hennesee, Bigge, Mohnesee and Diemelsee.

-Just three minutes walk from the house, you come to the small but highest waterfall in Sauerland (in the same-named town Wasserfall).

Culture:

-Castles. For example, visit Schloss Berleburg, Burg Waldeck, 175 m above the Edersee is located, or the palatial residence castle Bad Arolsen, that the example of Versailles was built.

-Towns and cities. Nice and cozy villages for shopping and sightseeing are Willingen, Winterberg and Assinghausen (pink village).

-Slate mines / museums. A fascinating insight into how the former slate was mined near here. The same shale that is largely our house. (Eg. Willingen Schmallenberg).

-Beer Museum. Oa. Warstein (the famous brewery).

Sporty:

-Bike and Mountain bike trails are well indicated throughout Sauerland. BikeArena has around Winterberg, Schmallenberg, Hallberg, Medebach, Brilon, Kirchhundem, Lennestadt, Olsberg, Eslohe Willingen and 37 routes with a total of 1,400 kilometers of varying distances and degrees of difficulty. www.bike-arena.de

For mountain biking and downhill enthusiast there is a bike park in Willingen and Winterberg; 6 kilometers of well-maintained trails on the mountain. Include a practice course, a 1300-meter Free Cross Downhill trail and a trail ride and fun. With the chair lift you up again.
A long and beautiful route is the RuhrtalRadweg running from Winterberg to Duisberg with a length of 230 kilometers.

-Sport climbing is not common, but there are different types of rocks in the neighborhood with mostly single rope routes in grades 4 to 10! They are found in Siedlinghausen Warstein) among others. In bad weather is located in Willingen. Indoor climbing

-Walking (various routes including "Rothaarsteig" and "Kneipp").

-Golf (eg. Brilon, Winterberg and Schmallenberg Job Contest 18 holes).

-Paragliding (in Elpe!) ...

Motor & Car:

The hills and lakes of the Sauerland are ideally suited for touring beautiful with stunning vistas and views. They lead you through the most beautiful places in Upper Sauerland. One of the nicer rides that around the Rothaargebirge. A journey of 102 kilometers which starts and ends in Winterberg.

Quick Route "Rothaargebirge national park": Winterberg - Küstelberg - Deifeld - Referinghausen - Oberschledorn - Medebach - Küstelberg - Elkeringhausen - Winterberg - Neuastenberg - Langewiese - Hoheleye - Obernkirchen - Almert - Schmallenberg - Wormbach - Ebbinghof - Bad Fredeburg - Gellinghausen - Bödefeld - Altenfeld - Siedlinghausen - Altastenberg - Winterberg.

Naturally, most summer activities also perform in winter, but Sauerland is best known for its winter sports facilities close to home.

Sporty:

Skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing is possible not only in Winterberg and Willingen, but in many places in the vicinity of Elpe, so you can avoid it. Busier tourist sites

Niedersfeld Wasserfall are regarding the location nearest Elpe. Altastenberg is the highest village in the region (800 m) and is a convenient and multi-purpose venue with beautiful pistes, cross-country ski and nursery slopes.

This village is not far from Winterberg (largest contiguous area) and Neu Astenberg (steeper slopes and also a fun park).

Two other beautiful locations nearby are Bodefeld (longest run, and beautiful trails) and Willingen (any location with a cable), but they are in a different direction.

All these areas are between 15 and 30 minutes from our house and have their own rental locations near the slopes with opportunities for lessons.

Sauerland has over 600 km of trails for cross-country skiers.

In addition to these winter sports there are several places in Sauerland luge and bobsleigh tracks.
