NICE AND CLOSE, PLENTY OF FRANCE!
In the rolling countryside of the French Ardennes, a few hours' drive from the Netherlands, lies this typical Ardennes Old Farmhouse, transformed into a comfortable, spacious family home with beautiful style features. Located in a green oasis in a hamlet near the village of Liart, in the middle of the French countryside with its beautiful views, you can completely relax here. The last French residents of the farmhouse play the leading role in a surprising newspaper column by the Dutch journalist Henk Hofland. Under the title 'A second house' he writes about the residents of the hamlet of Cornaux: '... the farmer's wife with hands like Enka sponges, her mentally handicapped son and the son who succumbed to drink'. A family epic in a nutshell that now hangs man-sized in the house. After the death of the last family member, the farmhouse fell into disrepair until the current landlords resurrected it from the ashes with respect for the past, but adapted to modern times. The house can be heated all year round with a large wood stove .
The kitchen is fully equipped. In the dining room there is a king-size dining table. On the first floor a comfortable bathroom with shower and bath, two spacious bedrooms and a giant bedroom in the former hayloft. For current information and photos, you could also take a look at the internet page of the Old Farmhouse. The house is heated with a sturdy wood stove that can bring the ground floor to a pleasant temperature. The bedrooms on the upper floor can be heated with electric heaters but can continue to feel a bit colder at low temperatures.
The Old Farmhouse is located in the middle of nature, in the middle of the Parc Regional des Ardennes. With plenty of opportunities to walk on beaten roads and unbeaten paths, cycle up and down hills or swim in a lake. To browse a flea market in the area on a sunny Sunday morning. On a chilly autumn day, I was walking through the clay with boots. Or just doing nothing by the wood stove. It's all possible. And all that in an instant, less than 250 kilometers drive from the Dutch border. But immediately in full in 'la Douce France', with church, pub and grocery, with the bakery of delicious baguettes and croissants. The spacious grounds of the farm house an orchard with various apple, plum and cherry varieties. A little further on the other side is La Grange, The Old Granary. This monumental building for four to six people can be rented in combination so that several families can enjoy a holiday.
