A Seaside Cottage Full of Stories
Welcome to our home away from home in the south of Brittany. Four years ago, we stumbled upon this house and knew instantly it had potential. It wasn’t just another house near the beach — it had a soul. My wife, with her eye for detail (and endless patience), spent a year renovating it. Not with the idea of “creating a rental,” but with the idea of building a real family beach cottage. A place where our kids could run barefoot from the garden to the kitchen, where our friends would gather around the fireplace on rainy evenings, and where we could host lazy summer lunches that stretch into the evening.
That’s why this house doesn’t feel like a holiday rental. It feels like home. Everything you could possibly want is here because, well, we wanted it too. The kitchen is stocked for real cooking, the beds are the kind you actually look forward to, and the little corners of the house are made to be lived in.
Step outside and the story continues. The garden is big enough for the kids to play football, while the grown-ups sip wine on the terrace. When the sun sets, the BBQ is ready for fresh fish from the market in Pont-Aven. And then there’s the pool — an indoor, heated little spa that keeps the fun going even when the weather decides to be “typically Breton.”
But what really makes this place special is the setting. Kerfany Beach is just a 7-minute walk away — a small bay where kids can safely swim, and where mornings begin with a croissant from the bakery down the road. A little further, you’ll discover Finistère Sud in all its magic: white sandy beaches hidden between rocky cliffs, sailing boats gliding past oyster farms, weekly markets in tiny villages, and hiking routes that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a painting.
Whether you come for surfing, sailing, long coastal walks, or simply to disconnect and do nothing, this house is the kind of place where time slows down. Where breakfast stretches into lunch, where evenings are for games around the fireplace, and where every guest — family, friend, or traveler — feels like they belong.
We call it our beach cottage, but really, it’s a little world of its own. And we’d love for you to come and write your own chapter here.
