After a day's drive from the Netherlands, you will arrive at our gîte in central France in the hamlet of Le Mas, located in the Creuse department. Le Mas belongs to the village of La Cellette, a village of about 250 inhabitants.

Our completely detached gte has its own entrance, is suitable for 4 people and fully equipped. The gte was completely renovated a few years ago, while the authentic character of the gîte has been preserved. In the adjacent spacious garden you can enjoy the sun until late at night on one of the two private terraces with a view over a hilly landscape.

On the ground floor are the living-dining room (25 m2), a bathroom with spacious shower and vanity unit, a separate toilet, a hall with stairs to the first floor, with a washing machine under the stairs. Furthermore, our gîte is equipped with a well-equipped kitchen (10 m2) with breakfast table, dishwasher, gas comfort, microwave, fridge-freezer, coffee maker (Senseo), toaster and kettle. Upstairs are the two spacious bedrooms (24 m ² each, 1 room with a double bed and 1 room with two single beds). Placing an extra bed is negotiable.

Other gte amenities: Free WiFi, ironing board with iron and hairdryer.

For daily shopping you can go to the neighboring villages of Genouillac, Sainte Sévère and Sazeray. There you will find bakeries, small supermarkets, a pharmacy, butchers, a bank, post office and restaurants. Optionally, you can use our table d'hôtes service.

Almost all of our lives we have spent holidays in France. More and more often the thought occurred to us to one day buy a house in France. In 2008 we took the plunge and found in this region the place where we want to stay for the rest of our lives. Here all stress is gone, you feel free and you can enjoy the beautiful nature.
We have been renting out our gîte since 2017 and in this way we want everyone to enjoy this beautiful place.

The gîte is closed from November to March.
If necessary, due to bad weather conditions, this applies in the months of April, May, September and October.

The most important meal of the day is served by the French around noon. In our area you will find all kinds of restaurants, where you can get a 'plat du jour' (a menu of the day) for around €15.00. This menu usually has three courses, sometimes four. The atmosphere in the restaurants is usually very pleasant. In our gîte we have a whole list of good and cozy restaurants. Of course we are happy to advise you and help you with reservations, if necessary.

This piece of countryside in central France is often skipped by tourists and that is a missed opportunity! Along the winding roads of the Creuse you will discover friendly villages, each with its own charm and specialness: architecture, remarkable abbeys and churches, museums, castles, special gardens, galleries and parks, etc. You can take beautiful walks or bike rides through forests, along rivers, along vineyards and through beautiful hilly landscapes

Almost every village in France has a weekly market. These markets give a good picture of local life. You will find the local delicacies there: cheeses, sausages, specially baked bread, wine, you name it. Let yourself be seduced by the markets in La Châtre, Boussac, Sainte-Sévère, Saint-Août or those of Aigurande! In the summer there are plenty of flea markets: markets where you might find just that one special object to embellish your interior. Enjoy browsing through old postcards, books, jewellery, crockery, old gramophone records, etc. An agenda with all the brocantes of the season is waiting for you!

Do you want to get away from the city and away from the crowds? The Creuse is an ideal area to discover on foot or by bike. Nature is varied: you walk along meadows, small lakes, babbling brooks, through enchanting forest paths, with the occasional climb over small hills. It's delicious! From our gîte you can take various walks. We have all kinds of routes available for you. Here you can experience France in peace!
