Location & tips

Additional information

Brossac is a quiet village in the Charente. Not far from the border of the Dordogne (approx 15 min). Between Cognac and Bordeaux.
Near this village, situated on the lake, the park Etang Vallier.
The area consists of forests, fields, vineyards and sunflower fields. There is so much to see in the area. Of villages, towns, castles, zoos, canoeing, quad biking to horseback riding, wine tasting etc etc.
(Angouleme, Bourdeaux, Aubeterre, Cognac)
In our house there is a folder with many sightseeing tours.
During a walk in the woods you can see many small lakes and ponds surprising encounter.
Our boys have already discovered many creatures.
Last week the weather was extremely delighted by our huisje.Het weather was great. We had a nice swim in the lake. The boys have enjoyed the many critters. They even have a Green Lizard found. They also fished in the lake and also a lot gevangen. We have enjoyed the tranquility. And many of the birds were still nesting. The Hop, the cuckoo and woodpecker were busy weer.Deze time we have to Blaye. A beautiful plantation containing a small village. We also visited the Marennes been. A large area with oysters. Really nice to have seen. If it's low tide, the river runs very low. Also just been to Royan. It's always cozy and busy. Evening to enjoy the fireplace had. The new miniature golf at the park will form. As of 01/07/08, this should open gaan.Helaas about it again, but we can happily enjoy the beautiful weather here in Nederland.Alhoewel the oldest (5 years) the total did not want to go home go. With tears in his eyes, he stepped into the car and he took leave of his "cottage France" and his snails and beetles etc etc enz.OP to the summer-at Etang Vallier.
The children were eager to get back to our cottage to France. The trip was formidable. We are on Sunday (1 day after Black Saturday) left. No traffic jams, no vrachtverkeer.De Sun smiled upon arrival. After having unpacked the suitcases, we enjoy a swim in the outdoor pool. In total we had 1.5 days of bad weather. Nothing compares with the weather here in the Netherlands. So complain about the weather we have not gedaan.Deze holiday we have been to Bordeaux. It struck me that this city is very clean. And what stores say. We also have a train in Guîtes done with a real steam train. 0.45 min, and back again returned 0.45. In between a visit to the pancake house near a river, lake. The boys and we liked it very much indeed. Besides the train up to 6 years gratis.Ook visited the castle in Pons with a fun treasure hunt for the kids. We also have these 2 weeks a lot of swimming in the lake. Built sand castles, creatures sought and found, hiked in the woods and relaxed. In short the 2 weeks were far too short. Every night we had also visited by a tree frog. Really nice.
Unfortunately. It is over. Back from 2 weeks in May holiday Etang-Vallier.Na 3 days rain, fortunately had a lot of sun. Approximately 24 degrees on average. We had a great swim in the lake. Even in Royan in the sea gezwommen.Wat is still fine every morning and evening outside dining. Heerlijk. We now have a BBQ and a dishwasher. Super! The children have built dams, climbed trees, animals found etc.etc. The hop was back in the nest. Even the Golden Oriole flew around the house. The boys have a fire lizard found. Bit creepy but beautiful. We have also been in the Zoo in Royan. Highly recommended. You can even pet the giraffes. This is specially made a plateau. Very leuk.Ook we have some beautiful walks. Yeah it's good toeffen. Meanwhile, the park owner started a wellness center at the lake. According to hearsay is an indoor pool, sauna, massage, Turkish bath, terrace, squash. We hope that this summer (2009) ready. Are curious about the resultaat.Maar unfortunately it is over and we look forward to the summer holidays.
What a beautiful summer weather we gehad.Deze time I got the request from the children at 3 weeks in Southern France gaan.Nou, even this they found afterwards too short. But unfortunately, there are more holidays in.We not have this holiday in the caves Vallier (Dordogne) visited. Really beautiful druipgrotten. And accessible for small children. Also to Talmont and Messchers been. Really nice touristic villages. Although, mom and dad really liked it. The kids would actually prefer to their friends and the oldest has more or zwembad.De except lizards, beetles, and many other beautiful creatures have found a praying mantis. On a stick I found him very nice. Except when he decided to fly on my stomach. The rescue was fortunately near. On to the May holiday. The boys are already counting down.
This holiday was dominated by jobs.
As our boys can amuse themselves now, we can dramatically increase jobs.
We have taken care of the shutters, is an air conditioning and we hung the floor throughout the house replaced. What is nice, though I say so myself.
The boys have a lot of animals found. In particular, the longhorn beetle. We also had many visitors from nesting birds such as Hoopoe, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Blackbird. Talked about work. These creatures can not work. From early morning until late at night, they flew in and out with food. We enjoyed it. The boys wanted far from home, but unfortunately the holidays briefly.
After hard work in the May holiday, we decided to do anything.
Fortunately the weather was very more. In the morning, 2 degrees, but the afternoon sun and is around 18 degrees.
We walked a lot. Huts built with our boys. Shrimp and fish caught. Drinking wines and cheeses eaten. Really enjoyed as a god in France.
We also visited La Vallee des Signes. (It's the same owner as the Apenheul in NL) Highly recommended.
In Martron, a place away from Brossac is a great racetrack opened in Karting. It's called Pôle Mécanique de la Haute Saintogne. Saturday is usually practiced.
A week is so over, so we look forward to the May holiday.
May holidays 22-4 t / m 15-2011

Thursday Night 0:05 left our hometown and 9:15 in Brossac over Paris. Very quiet on the road trip went well. Unfortunately, our son was ill and could not get much done, the 1st 4 days. We are also the Easter delicious remained at the house and have been every day to the lake. The lake was the first fine days, about 24gr and lots of sun. Sunday and Monday a shower for dust. Tuesday was a hot day and have decided to go through Talmont to Royan. The weather was so good that we could swim in the sea. 30 g. The water was still cold, but that did not matter for the children. In talmont towards Royan we first looked around the small picturesque village with lots of nice eateries and shops. We have extended lunch here. We found also a service to the church what it was just nice to see. After Royan back to the cottage. (2 hours drive) and then had dinner out until 20:30 (still 23 g) What a wonderful day that was. Meanwhile, the past few days working hard on the guest house of grandmother next week, staying with Fam van der Zanden. The wigwam of Wessel, Wouter and uitgeboudw Ward is a luxury 6 person villa. Wednesday been to the lake because the children want to prefer to stay at the cottage. With another beautiful day Thursday went to Bordeaux, where we held that the shops to open until 1400 hours weather conditions. Despite the tip to park outside the city center and to address the tram we have chosen to do by driving in the center. We were still stuck in the Victor Hugo garage with the roof box. Having removed we could continue throughout the afternoon and we parked for € 5.00. So too bad. Old town seen and the view (Skyline) v Bordeaux is beautiful. Many stately buildings and plenty winkeles, restaurant and attractions.
Friday went to La valle des Signes. (Apenheul) in Romagna 1.5 hour drive from Brossac.Wat a beautiful park that is saying. Highly recommended, a vd nicer parks we've seen. While taking a picture, our son was attacked by a medium-sized monkey in zone 10. This monkey had to Juriaan coined and continued to haunt him. At home, good food and a moment there was the arcade evening with kids. What does the lake look beautiful with the setting sun. Vandag was slightly cooler. Saturday we stay at the cottage and we walk in the immediate vicinity. In the course of the day ingpakt the stuff because we set off early on Sunday to Euro Disney. A lovely end to a wonderful holiday. Unfortunately, the warden pools not ready but it will not be long. Furthermore Jurian missed a football pitch but maybe still is. The park wort since every year more attractive. All in all had a great spring break.

It was a wonderful holiday with the two of us and two dogs. It was very hot (35-40) However, very nice villages with quaint plazas viewed and drink delicious coffee particles. The market on Monday in Chalais. Friday and Sunday in Riberac in Aubeterre. Obviously St. Emillion done. And ridiculous pictures of all sunflowers. What about those beautifully: fields and fields full! Cheers We do not get enough! Too bad we had to make the vet. Use Emma (labrador) has to be very very stuffy and coughing. Floortje (other dog) paid close attention to Emma. The first two days warden pretty chilly, but otherwise it was between 25-40 gr. Beautifully stargazing you here and if you're lucky between a satellite.
All in all great holiday celebrated in this fine home is what complete!
Ierdereen a good time!

The first few days the weather was not great to mention, but we are not weggeregend. It was cloudy with occasional drizzle. One of the lesser days we spent in Bordeaux and on Tuesday we drove to La Rochelle. There the beautiful aquarium visited and enjoyed the town, the port and .... beautiful weather!
From Wednesday's sun, a single cloud and so pleasant temperatures. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, the lake, the environment and above all the lovely cottage.

13-27 August 2011

Unfortunately it was a Saturday and we were black hose between Paris and Orleans. It was long cloudy, until we came near Brossac. How wonderful to arrive to cool. After a journey of more than 12.5 hours (instead of 10), after unpacking in the pool Beautiful weather, beautiful house and grounds, great pool. But then ... Our first morning in Etang Vallier began bewokt but warm. Immediately some shopping done in Chalais. When we came back pulled it open and the sun came out again. Now I write this, we are one week in Etang-Vallier. The clouds were in the morning for a short period and we have beautiful weather. We are always available by the pool and have not yet been in the lake. Is an intention. We are only 1x been on the road. First to Aubeterre, what a nice place. Unfortunately we arrived at 12.15 at the underground church and we were not allowed inside (only open at 14:00) So we drove to Angouleme. What a narrow streets. With a regular car all quite exciting, but not to. Our Dodge Ram Van hurry So clockwise returned home. Very sorry, but yes. The Church of Aubeterre we will visit again tomorrow. (Sunday) We understand that there are therefore market is around 10:30.
Today, Sunday, we went back to Aubeterre. It is a small market around the square with its terraces. There is for sale: wine, cheese, ornamental advice, shawls, leather, soap, lotion, mugs etc.
The underground church was nice to see and cool. On the way past the supermarket in Chalais. Attention: open until 12:30 on Sundays. It is still very hot here, well over 30 degrees!

Monday still very hot, but the morning clouds, afternoon again delicious. Tuesday and woensdg cloudy, respite from the heat. Also delicious. Tuesday night dinner at the castle of Chalais. Very very good food, wonderful place to eat. 3 course with side dish. Very good. Recommended. Be on time reservation, because it's all very full days.

e have met another couple from the Netherlands. They have been last week to René Carré and found it did not like. What they recommend is a visit to Cognac: nice lunch, nice shopping and very nice tour and tasting at the Hennessy factory.

Our Wine: Chateau Vignola, famille Doublet, 2010, entre deux mers (dry white wine, wine star)
On appointment to visit them. Vintner They have many types of wine, too much red. Towards Bordeaux.

We thoroughly enjoyed it. Petra & Andre, thanks for your hospitality. What do you have a nice house here. Tips: curtain at front door, clock with pool, gas cylinder in the cottage, sunbeds

We are a family with two boys of 3 3n 4 years old. We have made several trips. Here our findings on the trips.
1 Le Chateau de Enigmes (1 hour drive) in this castle is a treasure hunt. Our boys found this very nice. We have been doing 4 h. Definitely worth with children.
2 le Grottes du Roc Gazelle: This was very nice to see how the caves for centuries serve as home. The boys found it very fun and exciting. Around Sarlat are several great and castles. A nice area, but 2 hours drive from Brossac. Near Les Elzies We also viewed a castle. Chateau Commarque is a castle which is partly collapsed, but definitely worth it to check. The good guys have to scramble. The location of the castle is fantastic. We have lovely walks in the area f. castle.
3 Aubeterre is a nice place to walk. Through it We visited the largest cave church of France. The boys found this less interesting. The village is quaint with a nice village square.
4 Cogna. We went for a museum. Cognac is a fun place to shop. By Driven to Saintes. Here we went to a Amphitheater. The boys felt real gladiators. Furthermore, beautiful churches and monasteries. Overall a nice city. The last days we enjoyed the beautiful weather by the pool. We haaden a private pool.
Petra and Andre, thanks for your hospitality. We enjoyed our holiday.

Greetings John, marjoram, Florian and Julian
May offers 2012

Lovely 2 weeks rest and just enjoy this environment. At least, that was the intention.
We have sun, interspersed with had. Rain showers rain the first week Fortunately, we present ourselves when we discovered a leak in the roof. Was the choice, or replace a few tiles, or at all. It has thus become completely.
Lot of work is done. Even the kids have helped. Philippe has also assisted us. Our technical french is quite fot :)
In the grid behind the toilet, outside wall, a bird nest. How do they get it found.
We have after work wonderfully enjoyed the sun and the lake. The boys have a new friend at. A black dog. Apparently he ran away from Passirac and he gets everyone eat. He's really sweet!
We already longing for our return.

May 3 2012 Andre, Petra, Wessel, Wouter and Ward van der Zanden

(Meanwhile Pampa, the black dog, adopted by Rodger and Christine, who lives near the park. When we get there, the boys must the dog always "borrow".)

21-28 July 2012

We started the week with a pleasant 25 gr.
But now the temperatures rose to over 35 degrees! (Fortunately, there is air conditioning in the house)
First of all compliments for the cottage. Clean! Detached, spacious and fully equipped. With right something to be proud of. Also, the park, the pool and the other facilitetien. Nothing to complain so.

Many Dutch and Belgians at the park this week. So the kids had a lot of friends to play and swim (which they could understand)

The canoe in Parcoul was fun. We have the trip of 2.5 hours of Chenaud to Parcoul dangers and that was quite adventurous because you occasionally had to look at several dams ondeweg your way. Itself It was en route to the sometimes tracking arrows.

Once but a must for when he is held back, the farmers marché des producteurs de pays in Brie Sous Chalais.

Friday we go to the market in Riberac. And the caves of Villars. We are curious.

Furthermore, a lot of cycling in the area on our mountain bikes and took a lot of swimming in the pool and lake. And especially enjoyed the soothing calmness of the park. Despite all the houses were inhabited as in the middle of the holiday.

PS: also in Chalais - Est is a Lidl! This saves half the miles with Barbazieux. Upon entering Brossac Chalais from the direction to the Lidl already indicated.

Overall we had a wonderful week in your house. Next week we go to the Vendee.

Greetings Cor, Ingrid, Laurens 13 and 11 Marnix

4 t / m August 18, 2012

2 weeks holiday with our daughter, son and granddaughter of 14 months, with our rhythm was determined by the small.
We started with a rainy weekend with not such high temperatures. Too bad, but fortunately then the sun broke through and we had beautiful weather. Alternately pool, lake, sea and surroundings. In terms of tourism it was so quiet that it seemed for-season and even the city Cogna what death was everywhere. The markets were fun, the great sea, the area is quiet and beautiful.
What really let it down was René Carré. Besides the round trip by train .... without any explanation, we may bekijen the cows. The Pineau we could taste tasted good. But otherwise kept it in little.

Greetings Gerrit and Joke

5-19 September 2012

The cottage was fully equipped!
We were already for the 4th time at the park, so we knew the area and the stores al
So we came to rest after a hectic period at home. That peace and we got nice weather.
Everything was well organized further!
