Welcome to Le Papillon. We are Jan and Corrie van Eijsden from Drenthe and in 2012, after having spent several holidays in the Morvan and after a full house hunting, bought the property. It lies on the border of the Yonne and Nièvre in a small hamlet, situated between the historic towns of Avallon and Lormes. After a year of intensive jobs we have a cozy and comfortable holiday made. We hope you enjoy as we like this place! A bientôt!

Additional information

Your holiday is only 2 hours drive from Paris. The house is easily accessible and located in a small village (hamlet) of about 12 houses and offers plenty of privacy, without the house is secluded. That means that every now and then walkers will get passed along your house but otherwise you sit here very quietly. Cars come here almost (the postman after) not over. In the well-kept private garden, there is always a place in the sun or shade. La Bascule is located near the lake "Crescent", a lake with clear water and small beaches.

Beautiful house surrounded by nature. It is located on a quiet road. You have a terrace next to the house, and also borders on your huge grass yard. You can enjoy the garden furniture and BBQ, and the children have plenty of space to romp, play a game of football or just fooling around here. What a rest! So delicious in nature! It lies between forests and meadows on a path in the beautiful Morvan. The Morvan is a region that is rich in forest and water, making it ideal for fishing and other outdoor activities such as hiking or a day of recreation at the lake lake district or Etang de Baye, both with many water sports.
From north to south Burgundy is a region with many faces, full of treasures to discover and visit. From historic sites to natural, religious monuments to civilian buildings, areas and towns full of art and history to villages of character: Dot itself a special route and discover the stunning scenery. A gastronomic adventure to live. With your family or friends

Would you like to be a historian for a day Visit Guédelon, a medieval workshop that is unique in Europe, or the Museum Alesia to participate in the past have a look. Is your interest to religious heritage, visit the Basilica of Vézelay, Fontenay Abbey or the monastery of La Charite-sur-Loire, which are UNESCO World Heritage.

Nature enthusiasts can sail the canals of Burgundy or protected as heritage Solutré rock or climb Mont Beuvray. Another option is to wander the many trails around the lakes of the Parc du Morvan, or along the banks of the Loire.

In the cities with the label "Ville d'art et d'histoire" (or "city of art and history), you can follow original routes: 'La Chouette' Dijon 'Cadet Roussel' Auxerre, and so on. You can also soak up the wide variety of events throughout the year. The historic light-and-sound show in Autun, street arts festival in Chalon-sur-Saône or auction of the Hospices de Beaune: there is something for everyone to do something fun!

After a prosperous journey we are back in the Netherlands. We had delicious. What a beautiful house in a beautiful place. Especially the garden is amazing. We have seen many of the area and also many idled in the garden! Delicious cuisine (with enough pans etc. What you do not often see in France!) Fine bathroom and a good bank! We have not come to short, so in our opinion not on any comments! If I have to call a tip is the lighting. In the evenings you can read poorly in the living room with light. So perhaps slightly stronger lamps, especially above the table so that you may like to read, do puzzles etc !. But otherwise everything was all good! So thank you and have fun even with your beautiful home! Sincerely, Hans and Sandra Zunderdorp
Nearby is the fortress town of Avallon and is picturesquely located on a granite rock with the Vallée du Cousin. The old city center on the rock with its well-preserved city walls, with its winding streets, the shopping street with cafes and restaurants makes Avallon a charming place.
Avallon is mostly visited for a church l'Eglise St-Lazare. In the 11th century gave the Burgundian duke Henry the Great Head of Saint Lazarus to the inhabitants of Avallon.
South and west of Avallon is the picturesque Vallée du Cousin. the serpentine course of Cousin is especially popular with trout fishermen and wildwatercanoers and through the forested granite rocks a lovely backdrop for two watermills, which is now a hotel-restaurant in use.
