Casal de Dona Elizabeth is quietly situated on a hill in the rural area between Paderne and Tunes, centrally located in the Algarve. The part where the Quinta is located is called Cerro Pinto.
Casal de Dona Elizabeth consists of two houses, the main house ''de Quinta'' consists of a spacious living room kitchen, a corridor with three bedrooms, a full bathroom and a guest toilet. Next to the Quinta, the large swimming pool is sheltered in the mature garden. There are spacious terraces both at the Quinta and at the pool.
The other house is ''the Cottage'' which consists of a spacious living room kitchen, a hall with two bedrooms and a full bathroom. There is also a storage room. The large garage has been built on the Cottage with two roof terraces from where you can even see the ocean.
A special feature is the presence of a large underground water basin, a cisterna, with a capacity of 120 cubic meters, making it the largest in the municipality of Paderne. By collecting rainwater in this, like we do, you save enormously on the municipal water bill.
The Quinta was built around 1900 while the Cottage is probably 100 years older, the houses have been completely renovated and replastered and the roofs have been renewed. The Cottage has been returned from stables and storage to home. We then moved into the Quinta and rented out the Cottage as a holiday home. After we moved back to the Netherlands in 2013, we started renting out both houses as holiday homes, and very successfully.
Officially, the two houses together consist of 130 m2 but the actual size, including the garage, is 248 m2 as you can see in the drawings.
In Tunes at 3 km there is a connection to the motorway and a train station with connections to the Algarve line and to Lisbon. There are also restaurants, a supermarket and regular shops. A little further afield, In Ferreiras, you will find large supermarkets such as Aldi, Lidl, Pingo Doce and Intermarché.
As indicated earlier, the rental is very successful, also because it concerns two separate houses, which doubles the yield. During the summer period we only rent out the houses with swimming pool in combination to larger groups, there is a lot of demand for this. We rent not only through Micazu but also through our own site and through Airbnb from where we receive our summer bookings. For a house in this price range, the rental income is demonstrably very high, figures are available for serious interested parties.
With the above text we want to indicate that the house is not only very suitable for permanent residence, whether or not by two small families or with the possibility to accommodate your visiting family and friends separately, but also for holiday rentals. living in the Quinta and renting out the Cottage is also a nice option.
We, Willem and Ellie van Kester, bought the Quinta in 1997 and now, after almost 30 years, think it is time to do something else. We sell the Quinta but stay in Portugal because we want to buy something smaller elsewhere.
