In the Midi-Pyrenees South of France lies the area of the Lot. Less known but just as beautiful as the very famous holiday area of the Dordogne. The Lot is quieter and the landscape is dotted with all the beauty you could wish for in France! Lovely towns and ancient places, castles, rivers, restaurants and fantastic views. It is the area with a temperate climate. Lots of sun and warmth in the summer and mild winters.
In this characteristic setting of the Lot in the Quercy Blanc area lies the medieval village of Castelnau Montratier. Known for its wine and melons. On top of the hill you can see the very striking church from afar. The village has a pleasant center and is also known for its three characteristic windmills. Our holiday home is located on the outskirts of this village. It is a beautiful detached house with a lot of comfort, peace, space and freedom. Our house has a large kitchen with an adjoining spacious living room, electric underfloor heating, fireplace and access to large terrace. There are also three bedrooms and two bathrooms downstairs, one with electric underfloor heating. On the first floor workspace and storage room with a fourth bedroom. Our house also has a large cellar/garage and a perfect wine cellar.
The major towns a short distance away are Cahors 30 min / Montauban 37 min / Toulouse with aeroport Blagnac 1 hr 10 min / Bergerac with aeroport 1 hr 50 min.
Furthermore, the town of Castelnau has a beautiful swimming pool and in the area there are natural swimming pools such as in Molières / 15 min and in Montcuq 20 min Then there is a fantastic well-maintained golf course with 9 holes 20 min away. Not to be forgotten are the famous markets in the area such as Cahors on Saturdays, Montcuq on Sundays and also on Sundays in Saint Antonin Noble Val. The route in itself is an experience and in the high season pleasantly busy and very versatile in the offer.
As for our house. At the end of 1998 we bought this house under construction and in the years that followed we built it largely ourselves with the help of local craftsmen. It was a project for us to combine our holidays with work and relaxation. It has become a fantastic place to live! Very purposefully furnished, practical and durable with plenty of space. The house was built as a holiday home, but for permanent living it offers many possibilities in many ways for inside as well as for plans outside in the garden.
For many years we intensely enjoyed the house, surroundings and nature, but now there is also a time for us to take our age seriously! Our greatest wish is to hand over our house to a prospective buyer, who will inhabit and enjoy this place with great care and love!
