Places of interest in the area :

Ronse is the perfect starting point to explore the Flemish Ardennes. On the outskirts of the city you will find the Muziekbos; via the Muziekbos walking route and the Witness Hills Flemish Ardennes walking network. On one of the highest peaks of the Muziekbos, stands a medieval-looking round stone tower, the Geuzentoren, built in 1864 from iron sandstone. Poet Pol de Mont looked out over the surroundings from the tower and shouted "But those are the "Flemish Ardennes" here, and that's how the region got its name... A few steps from the tower, you can discover a Gallo-Roman burial mound (tumulus). In the play area, children can romp to their heart's content. At the front of the forest you will find restaurant Boekzitting, excellent for a drink or a meal with a play area. A 15-minute drive away is the Kluisbos with its  restaurants with playgrounds and a natural wooden playground in the forest.

From the garden you have a view of De Hotond-Scherpenberg, located on  the territory of Kluisbergen and Ronse. With its 150 meters, the Hotond is the highest point in East Flanders. With clear visibility, you can see no less than 107 church towers from here! The Hotondmolen has been renovated and houses a café, bistro and a Grill restaurant with a beautiful terrace with a phenomenal view of the rolling surroundings of the Flemish Ardennes. It is a largely wooded witness hill that betrays what the landscape used to look like. Put on your walking shoes and climb to the highest point in East Flanders!

From here you have a view of the Kwaremont; internationally known for the cobblestone hill the "Oude Kwaremont. which makes it one of the most difficult hills of the "Tour of Flanders" because of this and the gradients. Eatery 'In de Zon', restaurant 't Monument with great views, or restaurant 't Konijntje in the Ronde van Vlaanderenstraat where you will also find café d' Oude hoeve (taste beer Kwaremont) and the beautiful, 3 ha sculpture garden 't Beukenhof with contemporary sculptures from home and abroad.

Be enchanted by the charm of the city, known for its historical heritage; the Romanesque crypt (1089) is the architectural showpiece of the city; essential elements such as the hidden burial chamber, the well and the bathroom for the mentally ill are still visible. In the crypt, a pilgrim could ask Saint Hermes for healing. Access through the Basilica open from 9am to 7pm (Small Market). At ceremonies: access via the side entrance in park Pechère (Sint-Hermesstraat) from 1 July. Around the basilica you will find several pubs, tea-room, ice cream parlor, and restaurants.

Textile Museum MUST; visit led by a city guide at 11 am for 1 am  in Dutch from March to 30 September: Friday and Saturday.

The restored chapel De Passage with nature shop Envie, Bio restaurant, bicycle rental E-bikes, sourdough bakery Lapin, Italian restaurant, Sushi Yama. Outdoor activities are plentiful!

Ideal base to explore the beautiful nature around the city. In the house you will find all kinds of information for excursions in the area, restaurants (also with playgrounds), shops, cycling and walking routes.

• Parking on enclosed grounds with automated gates.

• Smoking indoors is not allowed.

• Pets not allowed.
