With the air conditioning on full blast we puffed the last kilometer to La Source, where Serge was already waiting for us. After the explanation about the house we stood there. In the middle of nowhere, with a view of a patch of garden that the average villa dweller can only dream of. 14 days in Chastellux-sur-cure, now what?
What should I do? The great enjoyment could begin. The description promised us; Peace, nature, garden, several terraces and a good kitchen. That's right, everything is there. A lovely holiday home with a neatly built terrace as an extra.
There was plenty of peace and quiet. No noisy agricultural vehicles, the occasional car. Because the house is located on a pilgrimage route, hikers regularly pass by.
The terraces were excellent. On the new terrace a nice view, on the garden terrace there was enough shade. On the chairs at the entrance you could just sit down with a glass of wine or pastiche. In such a holiday home, you will quickly feel like a Burgundian.
There are several hiking opportunities from the cottage. Short, long, on the roads or forest paths. Villages abound around us. The town of Avalon was the most visited, thanks to the supermarket and the lively market. Restaurants galore.
The house is well maintained. Serge came every now and then to check if everything was okay, and to take out the garbage can. Where else can you find such a service.
All in all, we enjoyed the two weeks at La Source. We will definitely come back here again.
On all points of the assessment, we give ample marks everywhere. Except for the "Landlord friendliness and service" section. That will be a 10 for Serge.
