We were looking for a quiet stay with a swimming pool for our home base. A stay that also had to give a safe feeling and we found that at Koos. Thanks to the hospitality of Koos, the accommodation, the tranquility of Commewijne, the safe feeling of Palm Village and the cooling swimming pool, we sincerely enjoyed our holiday in Suriname. Add to that the colorful culture, the fantastic nature and the delicious food of Suriname and you will understand that we are definitely planning to come back.
Tip;
a. Rent a car. Traffic in, in particular, the city can be intimidating, but with caution and Google Maps or Maps Me, you can get anywhere.
b. There are several trips to the interior of Suriname. We have been to Anaula ourselves, but there are many possibilities. The nature of Suriname is magnificent.
c. You can just withdraw money. It turned out that it was not necessary to take a lot of cash with you.
d. Pay attention to the season. Turtle watching trips are offered, but this is really seasonal in some locations.

We found the owner Koos, who lives above the villa, very pleasant. If you wanted to know something or needed something, he was there for you. Every day a nice chat, he did his best to provide us with a nice holiday. He also had fun with the children. It is advisable to take a car, we rented it from Koos and that was also perfect.
In short, we enjoyed Villa Nieuw Amsterdam very much.

After having been to SU several times, this time I booked "Luxer" with Koos, the owner of Villa Nieuw Amsterdam. We liked it very much! All luxury is present in this house, very good beds, good gas stove and super good pans, shower with hot water large refrigerator, washing machine and dryer, air conditioning in the bedrooms, large super clean pool and even beautiful sauna. In short, you won't miss anything here! It is also great that you can rent a really good car from Koos for a reasonable price.
Koos has given us excellent advice about, for example, a trip to the interior and beautiful spots in the beautiful green commewijne, there is a lot within reach from villa nieuw Amsterdam, beautiful plantations, boat trips, the city of Paramaribo is also only a 30-minute drive away, so all great. Koos is a very good host who is open to everything, he cooked for us on the day of our departure because we had to leave the apartment a little earlier than usual because of an early booking, really top Koos thank you for this. We could write at least three more pages full of compliments, but we won't. The stay at Villa Nieuw Amsterdam is simply a must and we will definitely return to Koos and his fantastic home!

The villa is located in a lovely quiet area, near the hustle and bustle of Paramaribo. Around the villa it is all nature. On the back terrace you can enjoy the monkeys that regularly come by to beg for something tasty (they can't get to you because there is water in between). We also regularly saw a forest rabbit, different types of lizards and monitor lizards, birds, butterflies and 2 owls that probably had a nest in the tree next to us. On the other terrace we often enjoyed a drink in the evening and ate our meals at the spacious wooden table. From this terrace we also had a view of the very spacious, very clean swimming pool, which our docher thoroughly enjoyed.
Koos is a top host. Our daughter loved him and because there were no other children to play with, he really did his best to make her feel comfortable as well. For example, one evening he surprised her with a real disco show, when we came back from dinner. We are quite fond of our privacy, but the presence of Koos was very much appreciated by us. He has an excellent sense of when it is convenient to sit with him, so it was always cozy. It was so much fun that we also invited him 2x for a BBQ. He also took us to Albina on a day when we were bored (yes that can happen too), so that we could enjoy the beautiful nature along the way. He also knew a lot about the area.
On all fronts it was a TOP stay and partly because of Koos it became a TOP holiday. Thank you Koos!

The house was very clean and the beds great to sleep on, and a kitchen where you can cook because everything is there, a shower where you can shower sitting down and with a jet of water !!
The car was also perfect to rent from Koos, we discovered Suriname with Koos' information and recommend Villa Nieuw Amsterdam to everyone.

Koos de Vreede is a very good and pleasant host who is always there for you! It is certainly also a house to go to with slightly older children. We had a great week in the Commewijne. Quiet but also plenty to see!

We chose the apartment because we didn't want to stay in a hotel with our family and still wanted to stay in a stylish environment with European luxury.
Many other private properties available in Suriname don't look like much, but luckily this apartment was available. And it has its own pool, not to mention. It is located fifteen minutes from the center of Paramaribo in a guarded villa resort. Nice and quiet and safe for those who find that important.
At our very late arrival, the owner Koos had stayed awake to welcome us warmly. The apartment was indeed as shown in the pictures. The beds were good.
The luxury kitchen was complete and all rooms had air conditioning.
The host Koos was an enthusiastic and service-oriented host who was almost full time busy with maintenance, cleaning the pool and the like.
Koos has been living in Suriname for some time so we were able to benefit from his knowledge and advice to get the best out of our holiday. So we can heartily recommend both the apartment and the host if you want to book a stay in Suriname.
