Upon arrival you enter a typical Italian road with a little less road surface up and then the gate opens and you are welcomed by the very friendly hostess in an environment that makes you very happy. Carefully decorated and completed by the care and dedication of the owners who are incredibly hospitable. The information folder is very handy and serves as a nice guide for the many restaurants and villages which are very worthwhile. Own initiative applies to Sicily because discovering it yourself is a must and a must! Immerse yourself in the island of pleasant surprises and extremes.
Driving to Sicily was a joy for me but that is personal, it is recommended to let go of everything that you are used to doing from NL on the road:) it is a matter of just doing it. The kindness of the Sicilian is quickly noticed and enjoyed, giving kindness means receiving an awful lot of kindness.
In short: it was a super nice and nice week at Casa Oliva Nera because of the owners, their kindness, care, the very well kept house and the incredibly friendly environment in addition to of course the delicious wines and the excellent delicious food:)

Finally, look for the places where the locals go to eat themselves, these are seriously the best places if you want to enjoy the delicious Sicilian cuisine and atmosphere.

Located at the foot of the mighty ETNA, Oliva Nera is a hidden gem and an oasis of peace. Both the Etna Room and the Lemon Suite are luxuriously furnished apartments with a modern and playful décor and fully equipped. We stayed in the Lemon Suite, because the Etna Room does not have a refrigerator (but it does have a wine cooler!) and kitchen.

It took a while to find it, but once we found it... What a paradise! Very centrally located at the foot of Mount Etna, ideal base from which to explore the island. The suite is well furnished and very clean and the private garden with terrace is really lovely. Henriëtte and Davide are the ideal hostess and - gentleman, helpful, friendly and always available. In addition, Davide is an excellent cook. What an indulgence....!

A fairy tale! We have visited many accommodations throughout Europe, but this is a very special one. Despite the high temperatures in August, it is easy to bear, due to the presence of the beautiful large swimming pool and the air conditioning in the Lemon suite. The studio looks very well cared for, comfortable beds and a nice shower. The large private garden that belongs to it is beautiful, has many shaded areas and even an outdoor shower and hammock. What more could a person want? The lemon suite is cleaned every other day, a huge luxury. In the suite there is a kitchenette with fridge, freezer and microwave. Cutlery and kitchen utensils are also plentiful. In the morning breakfast under the parasol (the breakfast on request is also really delicious) and then a refreshing dip in the pool... Enjoy!!
Henriette and Davide are very hospitable, you can contact them with questions but otherwise they give you all the privacy. We really liked that. Near the accommodation are many nice villages and restaurants, we found Il Tocco highly recommended (beautiful view, delicious pizza). The information folder in the suite contains many more great tips, written by the owners themselves. Do you want a relaxing holiday on the special island of Sicily, in a unique place? Casa Oliva Nera is a special location because of the good care and attention of both owners, Henriette and Davide. Lemon Suite is beautifully secluded in a quiet area surrounded by citrus trees. I enjoyed Davide's exquisite cooking during my stay, those delicious antipasti and pastas. And the limoncello made by Henriette, aranchello and delicious marmalades of fresh figs, among other things. My stay was unforgettable. I can recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place where you can relax with the view of Mount Etna.
