The cottage in the village of Cómpeta, is well equipped and quiet.
In the neighborhood you can go for a nice walk and in the village there are good restaurants.
For exploring the area, Cómpeta is less well located.
It takes a while to reach the highway.
Nevertheless, we had a good time and enjoyed the surroundings!

We left at the end of February for Competa to walk. Unfortunately, during our stay it was exceptionally bad, wet, wind and cold, weather. Spent more time in the house than intended, but that wasn't a punishment. Nice house with a well-equipped kitchen, lots of books, a TV and well-functioning WiFi. Can also be kept warm with the gas heaters. Unfortunately we could not use the beautiful terrace with a view to the sea.

It was delicious! The house is in a street where the car can't go and that's so nice and quiet and it smells so nice and fresh and healthy !!

We were not for the first time in Calle Panaderos 17. We love coming to Competa (photo 1) and it's delicious every time. And with one rainy day and the rest only sunshine and 25°C, at the end of October, we can also be very happy. The house has exactly everything you need. And because of the stacked build, you can easily train your muscles for the hikes you are going to make, climbing stairs from kitchen to terrace.
We were very satisfied with the tapas at Casa Paco on the main square: tasty dishes and not so big, so you can easily vary.
Minuses (not on the house):
- Some access roads to starting points of hikes were blocked for cars, so that walks were suddenly a few kilometers longer and no longer doable on the shorter days of October.
- If you want to walk via Peña Escrita in Almuñecar to the Navachica (summit), which is suggested in some brochures and on some maps: save yourself the trip because Peña Escrita turns out to have been a dubious animal park. It is now closed but you can no longer walk there because after 20 km on winding roads, you are in front of an impregnable fence (see photo 2).

Lovely house in a beautiful place with stunning views! The house is fully equipped. Even a well-functioning WiFi! And from the house, the bakery, supermarket(s) and all kinds of small restaurants can be reached in no time. You have to like climbing stairs, both in the house and in the village. But that's also to be expected if you rent a cottage in a mountain village. From Competa there is a bus 3 times a day, so if you -like us- don't use fly-drive, this is a great option. From the village there are beautiful walks to make. The only downsides are shower and bed: they are a bit on the small side. Very satisfied also with the contact with the owner beforehand. We received extensive information in advance and key handover and taxi were also well arranged.

We enjoyed our stay in the beautiful cottage of Constant Stroecken. The cottage is very well equipped with everything and also the explanation we received in advance was very informative.
However, you have to take into account a lot of stairs in and around the house. The town of Competa contains many steep streets. We were without a car but there is still good walking from the cottage. However, your range remains a bit small because there is no extensive bus transport.
The cottage is not only well equipped, it is also cozy. On rainy days we could read books from the spacious bookcase that is present there. And there is a nice TV.
Small downside: the shower room is a bit cramped.

What a super place. The pictures are right! No exaggerated luxury, but everything is there. Both the town with its stairs and up and down roads as well as the house with 3 floors ensured that our leg muscles returned home well ...

We really enjoyed the nature park where you can walk in from Competa (steep climb, though). And the weather was very good in April. Constant, thank you for this lovely location. We would love to return again.
