Villa Verte has four different rooms of different sizes. Your stay naturally includes breakfast.

The pheasant , praised for its beautiful long bushy tail, is also called 'forest chicken'. With his red skin and beautiful colors, he just loves fields. If we do not count the tail, the pheasant measures about 35 centimeters. We therefore honor our smallest room with this bird.

The room has less walking space but is equipped with daylight and a good double bed. The shower cabin has a round entry and measures 90 × 90 centimeters.

Villa Verte, the Green Villa, is located in Saint-Mathieu, a tiny French village with about a thousand inhabitants. It is located in the department of Haute Vienne, a farming region full of tranquility , Limousin cows and castles, in the middle of Parc naturel régional Périgord Limousin .

Our green house was built in 1946 and has a wonderful story to tell. We have preserved as many original details as possible from the original Art Deco style. In and around Saint Mathieu you can walk, cycle, fish, golf and enjoy nature to your heart's content from a house full of extras and surprises .

The city of Limoges, known for its porcelain and with its beautiful center, many museums and the typical French food hall, is a fifty-minute drive away. We are open all year round. You can contact us for your holiday, family weekend, visit with friends or a romantic weekend away.

Villa Verte is the perfect location to explore the area during the day and enjoy the rural tranquility in a special atmosphere in the evening. If you like a house with character, a good story and something special, Villa Verte will not disappoint.

We had never fantasized about emigrating. What did we have with France? Nothing. But that house… it enchanted us! In France they say: coup de foudre: love at first sight. And that was exactly what it was. In addition, we fell in love with the way of life and living and the beautiful surroundings, where time has sometimes really stood still.
We bought the villa, stubborn and full of dreams. The renovation was a road full of setbacks and disasters. But now our Villa Verte is ready.

Villa Verte is easy to find on the outskirts of Saint-Mathieu. In our village you will find a bakery, a pharmacy and doctor's office, a supermarket, pizzeria, restaurant and lunchroom. At one and a half kilometers is the Lac de Saint Mathieu, a large lake where you can swim, pedal boat or play mini golf.

Saint-Mathieu is located in department 87, the Haute-Vienne, a farming region known for its Limousin cows and wooded area. At the same time, it is the epicenter of the Richard-Leeuwenhart route: a 180-kilometer tourist trip by car, bicycle or even better, convertible, along a ribbon of castles and farms where you can buy goat cheese, foie gras, wine or truffles. Saint-Mathieu is located in the middle of the Perigord, a protected natural area of 1,900 square kilometers full of unspoilt flora and fauna. The beautiful forests and the lake near Villa Verte show a hilly and green area, just five kilometers from the Dordogne. Peace seekers and nature lovers will not be bored here.

If you want to alternate with a day of entertainment, Limoges, Angôuleme and Brantôme are less than an hour's drive away. Discover the food hall, museums and terraces in Limoges, or stroll through the old town of Brantôme over the bridges above the river.

Are you more culturally inclined? Then be sure to visit Oradour sûr Glanes, an impressive war memorial less than 45 minutes' drive from Villa Verte. Check out the Chateau Richard Coeur de Lion, go on an archaeological journey of discovery, or visit a huge zoo on more than 100 hectares of land less than an hour away.

For enthusiasts there are plenty of canoeing and fishing opportunities and less than twenty kilometers away are two golf courses, including the International Golf of La Prèze, with 18 holes, which is affiliated with the French Golf Federation. A smaller club 12 kilometers away, with nine holes and fantastic views, welcomes you with a day ticket for less than thirty euros per day.
