Hof Caerdebeeck - The Source

Nature, peace and space. . Welcome to Hof Caerdebeeck!

Hof Caerdebeeck is a farm from 1269, surrounding a closed courtyard, owned by the monastery of St. Gerlach for centuries, with a unique historical history. You stay in the heart of this national monument; in the original farmhouse.

Caerdebeeck is located in the middle of a beautiful nature reserve. A gently sloping area with many meadows, vegetable and fruit gardens. An ideal walking and cycling environment. One of the Municipality's water extraction areas is located behind and around Caerdebeeck. Around the corner is the Kunrader quarry, which has been in use again since the rise of brick several decades ago, since 2012, thanks to the increasing demand for traditional limestone.

From the kitchen you look out onto the attractive courtyard , with a pond with water lilies. The sun shines here from 8 a.m. and you can have breakfast by the pond in peace and quiet. On a clear night you can enjoy a beautiful moon.

't Hof contains a variety of plants and shrubs in and around the pond, including an olive, peach, raspberry and fig tree. 't Hof is also the 'favorite hangout' of various birds. In addition to great tits, magpies and blackbirds, one of our guests recently discovered the rare bullfinch. The swallows have made Hof Caerdebeeck their permanent residence. They return annually to their nests, artificially suspended from beams.

Located in the courtyard, near the pond and the old well, along a blue stone staircase, your entrance.
There are three rooms at the entrance: a cozy old-fashioned farmhouse kitchen with conveniences such as refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, oven, filter coffee and Nespresso machine. Opposite the kitchen is an authentic 'beautiful' room, which, apart from a 60-inch smart TV, is still largely in its original condition. All rooms are on the ground floor and have central heating. The wood stove cannot be used until the chimney has undergone some work.

Behind Caerdebeeck you can enter the orchard through a gate, where the sheep graze. You can pick cherries here from June. From the end of July snow apples from which you can make your own apple sauce. In July and August the Japanese wineberry.

'The Source' consists of:

- A cozy farmhouse kitchen with spacious dining table;
- A 'nice' room with smart TV;
- Two bedrooms. One of 3x4m with Queen size bed and possibly. bookable room of 3x3m with bunk bed;
- A narrow corridor with a retro look toilet;
- A natural stone bathroom with sink and shower;
- You have WiFi/internet and a smart TV with which you can watch films via our Netflix account;
- The large bedroom has a cupboard with sufficient hanging and storage space;
- No garden or private terrace. Access to various seating areas in the courtyard and the orchard at the back.

You will find attractively furnished rooms, in authentic, slightly worn, Old Dutch style, with good mattresses and beautifully made beds. Dishwashing liquid, a first garbage bag and a roll of toilet paper are provided upon arrival. Bath towels are changed weekly. Pets not allowed.

You can park 1 car in front of our gate, if necessary. a second at the back gate. Cyclists can safely store their (racing) bicycles indoors.

Shops, a supermarket, cafes and restaurants can be found in the center of Klimmen. You can also take the car to the market square in Nuth to the Jumbo, Boerenbond and Voncken, where you can have a delicious lunch or order coffee and pie. There is a market on Fridays. In 15 minutes you can walk past the corn and apple fields to and from Klimmen-Ransdael train station. Valkenburg is 5 km from Klimmen, Heerlen 8 km and Maastricht 15 km.
