Nice things to know about Grouw
- Every year on February 21, Grouw celebrates "Sint Piter", a variant of Santa Claus. This saintly man is very similar and, according to legend, is his brother.
- Grouw is the starting place of the first official competition of the skûtsjesilen, the world famous Frisian sailing competitions with skûtsjes – a type of barge.
- The name Pikmar comes from the word ‘peak’, a kind of peat.
- The Yne’Lijte water park is a popular location for sport fishing for bream and white bream (a type of carp).
