On the river Cure, at the foot of the picturesque Vézelay, you can rent two authentic holiday homes, including this Fisherman's House. Vézelay is a medieval pilgrim town. It has a special monastery church dedicated to Mary Magdalene, a thousand-year-old. On old pilgrim roads you walk through the most beautiful nature. The houses are located in the Morvan nature park, the heart of Burgundy. Bicycles and canoes are available. See also our Riverhouse!
The fisherman's house has a spacious yard and is located on a quiet street. There is a roof where there is a picnic table. Especially when it's hot or raining, it's a nice place to be. In one of the two old vaulted cellars you have large basins where the fish caught in the river were once allowed to swim around. How old the house is, is unknown, at least centuries. Behind the house is a large garden.
From the yard you come across a wide staircase on a house-wide balcony where you can sit comfortably. It gives access to the kitchen, among other things. You can relax in the spacious kitchen. The kitchen is new and equipped with dishwasher, oven, etc. You can sit comfortably there, and you can also call the whole world free of charge and use the internet. Next to the kitchen is the spacious living room (1 bed), with bookcase (novel and non-fiction), and music installation. This so-called 'gigajukebox' contains many hundreds of CD recordings (different genres), and you can also play your own CDs or USB stick with music. There is also a DVD player with quality films. The off-season kitchen and living room can be heated with electric heaters or with cozy wood-burning stoves.
In the room behind the living room a staircase has been made to the garden room below that gives access to the garden. This sunny garden is sixteen meters deep and leads to the river. You have a beautiful view of the hills on the other side with forests and meadows. The old bridge is on the right. There is garden furniture and there is a barbecue. For the tenants there are two canoes that can be sailed on the river - a little up and down at the house, or large trips along villages up and down. There are also two bicycles, mountain bikes, with which you can also go straight through the forests and meadows. For children there is a swing and other garden toys such as a bathtub. You can play in the river, and look for coolness in hot weather. The house is on a quiet street (if desired, a car can be parked on its own property). Around the corner you have a bakery, butcher, supermarket, café and restaurant.
