Since 2006 we are the owners of "Casa Colibrí". From the terrace we enjoy the song of the birds and the view of the beautiful garden, which is home to fifteen different palm trees (palmeras). Every year we gradually find better facilities the house. The result is impressive. This abode is the ultimate pleasure for us. We stay there 6 months a year. For the remaining time, we cordially invite you to come and enjoy this special place!

Would you like to feel "at home" to come in your own luxury holiday? Our house is a comfortable, detached house (200 m2) in a quiet area of ??1000 m2 beautifully landscaped garden. Nearby are shops, a large mall and supermarkets. The bustle of the center of Paramaribo is 5 km away.
Our house is completely renovated and adapted to our own wishes. We hibernate six months per year and rent it to holidaymakers who want a little luxury wants. There are air conditioners (split units) in all bedrooms. The house is furnished with fine Oriental furniture combined with modern things like a modern kitchen, modern bathroom and wireless Internet.
The charm of the house is tastefully decorated garden and the special device. There is a living and dining room with door to the kitchen and TV corner. The house combines exotic with modern elements. Our home can accommodate up to 6 people. You will feel right at home and enjoy the lovely garden and terrace. In short: a house where you can enjoy a great vacation!

The distance to the center of Paramaribo is about 5 kilometers. At the corner of the street is a bus stop and within walking distance there is a taxi company. For about 3 euro taxi drive to the city. It is also an experience to once a ride in one of the nation vans for about 30 cents per ride. The drivers stop on demand and there is always swinging music. For your (rental) car is a garage.

By renting our house you're sure a responsible choice. The house is comfortable, stylish, comfortable, well maintained and fully equipped. Our tenants are happy because this house back in many ways, safe, comfortable and conveniently located. The difference with other cottages is that this is entirely our own house we have organized our own wishes. You can enjoy them. We stay there every year 6 months and try again and improvements to the house and garden and always prettier. Do enjoy it, especially the garden with the delicious mangoes, baby grape, caroms, cherries and birambies. For us in the garden gazebo to protect some plants, you can also relax in a hammock for sunbathing or for a book to read. You never have to lug around with linen, heavy (bath) towels or kitchen towels. There are also beach towels. There really thought of everything. A large part of the year you live out in Suriname. This house has a beautiful covered front terrace with a sitting area and two hammocks. From the terrace you have stunning views over the beautiful garden. Also you can watch the various birds who enjoy themselves in the gutter or in the two bird baths where they wash themselves and having fun. A few times a year, they choose our Cycas palm against the veranda to nest. A cute face!

If you necessarily want to smoke, it could be on the front terrace. There are there enough ashtrays!

The tap water is very good. So you can to your hearts content drink from the tap. Check a while the filter in the pressurized water. These can be easily replaced by a clean filter, which we always have in stock. A limited amount of water is electrically heated by the boiler. If the water supply on, there must be a new stock to be heated. That takes time! Be sparing with the use of hot water, otherwise the next in line under a cold shower.

The garden is decorated with care and contains approximately 15 different palm species. Tranquility prevails here, if you hear sound, then the singing birds or, in the distance, the croaking of a stray frog. In the garden, some fruit trees such as fransmanbirambie (carambola), the acidic birambie (suitable acid to make good out of it), two cherry trees and two mango trees. Manja the golek, a very sweet type of mango, has now for the first fruit. The aromanis must wait another year. In the backyard, a gazebo that used as a playhouse for the children served. Now we hang the laundry. That is, within a few hours of drying. In the front garden is a gazebo where you can sit or you can hang in the hammock.

The usual voltage is 110V in Suriname. The house is also equipped with European 220V power outlets (in the kitchen and living room). You can use your Dutch equipment such as a shaver, hairdryer, electric toothbrush, chargers, etc. with you. Be especially careful with energy. Do air conditioners and lights if you leave the house. The house is a photocell activated; important spots jumping on the light automatically when the twilight is. So you can get home safely.

You can simply call your Dutch SIM card. You can also buy little a Surinamese simcard. In the house are two phones, you can use them but the costs incurred at the end of your deposit deducted. The charges fall into the Netherlands and the call is simple. You are running: country code, area code without the zero and then the phone number. So 020-6698933 = 0031206698933.

In the house we have a wireless internet connection. The speed of the Internet in Suriname is not always a quality and speed as you're used to in Europe. To send and receive mails and what surfing is more than enough. So please get your laptop. You can also rerunning music, there are boxes in the corner TV on your laptop you can connect. The Internet costs about 12 U.S. dollars per week.

Eating out is often cheaper than offered sheep and do the cooking yourself. Moreover, it also saves washing up. There are enough restaurants in Suriname, where you can eat. The Optimist to the Extended Gemenelandsweg, not far from here, has delicious pasta and other dishes. In the center you have the barrel, Doc, Casa Nostra, Park Avenue and Spice Quest. These are the more expensive restaurants with European prices work. Very nice is the Thai restaurant "The Garden of Eden" at the Virolastraat. The restaurant is located in a private backyard and the ambiance is great. There are also some cheaper Suriname takeaways nearby. Please call for menu and order your meal. In Suriname, there walked a lot. Every Monday at 17.30 exactly leave the Hash House Harriers from an agreed meeting point. There are walkers and runners. Surinamese are amiable people and will always help out. Please note that certain things better and faster in the Netherlands may be regulated, but we are in the tropics so tranquilo tranquilo! Leave your stress at home and enjoy it. Almost every Surinamese speak Dutch, even in the interior. A kind word will open doors for you. Tell this some time in advance. The rate of the SRD fluctuates from day to day. At the moment (november 2010) you get approximately 4.30 SRD for 1 euro. Exchange never euros at the bank, but one of many Cambio's near or in the center of Paramaribo. Nearby there are drive-in cambio's where you sit in your car is a hatch handles and everything.

You stay in a super safe neighborhood. But because the safety of ourselves and our guests the highest priority, we have taken extra provisions.
