Cortijo Luz de Luna

Due to Covid-19 you can cancel with us free of charge.

Cortijo Luz de Luna is a lovely idyllic place with private pool and beautiful sea views. Close to the beach, the mountains and beautiful cities such as Granada and Malaga.

The cortijo is a simple house and consists of a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and two bedrooms. The living room has a large sofa, a dining room and four chairs. The kitchen is functional and practical. One bedroom has two single beds, the other bedroom has a double bed. The veranda has a large dining table and six outdoor chairs. We also have four separate chairs and two sunbeds outside for the terrace or by the pool.

There is a lovely swimming pool with sea views, which is open from May to September.

The cortijo is located in Salobrena. There is plenty to do in the area. Granada is about 45 minutes away, Malaga about an hour. In the Alpujarras you can enjoy beautiful walks or visit white villages. The Sierra Nevada is just over an hour away where you can enjoy skiing. But it is also very nice to stay at the Cortijo, read a book on the veranda or in the garden and enjoy the view.

Near Salobrena are many nice beaches, most of them pebble beaches. Within 10 minutes you are at the first bay. But there are many more nearby, ranging from large family beaches to small coves.

The cortijo is located on a mountain, far from the masses and far from the highway. The last bit to the house is a dirt road, steep and without a guardrail. Most people find this, especially the first time, quite spicy. Fortunately, the second time is usually not so bad! But it is good to know this.

During long journeys we came to fairytale places. We dreamed of having a place like this to ourselves someday. When we lived in Spain for a while, we came across this cortijo in Andalusia. With stunning sea views. A lovely swimming pool. An olive tree in the backyard and a lemon tree in the front yard. Because we no longer live in Spain, we can't be here that often. That is why we would like to let others enjoy this beautiful place.

Additional information

Near Salobrena are many nice beaches, most of them pebble beaches. We like to alternate during the holidays. But we also have our favorites! We prefer to go to the beach in Salobrena itself: it is quiet and the view of the rock in the sea is so nice. The children catch fish with a net, you can snorkel and if there is a lot of wind you can go bodyboarding. The beach is called El Penon and there is also a fantastic beach bar (in Spain they call it a chiringuito) where you can eat delicious paella. Another favorite is Playa El Tesorillo in Almunecar. It is next to rocks with an old Moorish castle and there is also a laid back chiringuito with swings and WiFi.
Have you had enough of the beaches and coves? Then there are plenty of nice places in the area! Salobrena itself is a nice fortified town, Granada and Malaga are both an hour's drive away and you can go into the mountains to view characteristic white villages. Salobrena When you arrive from Granada, Salobrena shines at you. The white town is built on a rock and at the top of the rock is a castle. You can wander through the alleys in the historic heart and take a nice walk past all the colorful flower boxes. Once you have walked down, you will find a long boulevard with many terraces and chiringuito's (Spanish beach bars). Granada Most people visit Granada to visit the fairytale Alhambra. That's beautiful! It is also nice to walk through the old Moorish quarter Albaicin: a maze of authentic streets and squares. It is located on a hill and has a nice view of the Alhambra. In Calle Calderia you imagine yourself in a souk and you can browse through all kinds of handmade bags and nice things. We also really enjoy shopping in the center of Granada in all the nice shops such as Zara, H&M! Malaga For a long time I thought that Malaga was too touristy, but it is actually a very authentic town. The center has nice shopping streets, squares and churches. You can enjoy shopping there and you can easily alternate that with a visit to one of the nice museums that are located in beautiful buildings in the center. Madrid's major museums lend their paintings for well-organized exhibitions. So a visit of an hour to the Museo Picasso and the Museo Thyssen is really worth it. Would you like to take a break in between? Then go and eat delicious tapas in Bodega Bar El Pimpi. This bar is full of authentic posters of flamenco dancers, bullfighters and celebrities who have been here. At the back is a terrace that overlooks the Teatro Romano. And if you want to escape the city for a while, you can get a breath of fresh air by cycling along the beach of Malaga. White villages Salobrena is itself a white village! But there are also other authentic villages in the area that are super fun to visit. Frigiliana is one of those: alleys with whitewashed houses, nice authentic shops and from the village there are nice walking routes. When you drive towards Granada you will pass the Alpujarras, the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Here you will find the authentic villages of Capileira, Bubion and Pampaneira where the houses are whitewashed, the flower boxes are cheerful and the squares are manned by old men on a bench. You can take a nice walk between these three villages!
In the cortijo is a book with all information about what you can do in the area. To give you an idea, we'll tell you what we like below! Walking In the vicinity of Cortijo Luz de Luna you can enjoy walking. Around the cortijo there are shorter routes that you can walk, for example before breakfast or in the evening after dinner. But you can also take longer walks, of a few hours or even a few days. In the Alpujarras for example or around Nerja. You then enjoy a nice walk in the mountains, with the most beautiful views, along rivers or streams and with a bit of luck you end up in a village with a nice terrace! Aqua Tropic water park The kids love it: in July and August there is a spectacular outdoor water park in Almunecar. You will find impressive slides, a wave pool, a pool for the little ones, several restaurants and of course a large swimming pool. Caves of Nerja Nerja is about 45 minutes drive from the cortijo. In the summer it is quite busy so for a visit to the beach in the high season I would not recommend it. But a visit to the caves is really worth it. So impressive, a kind of cathedral underground with the most beautiful shapes of stalactites. Water sports In the vicinity of Salobrena you can snorkel, dive, surf, kayak, you name it. You can do this around La Herradura and there is also a surf club in Salobrena that has lessons and equipment. Mountain biking In Almunecar you can rent mountain bikes and explore the area in great fun. There are different routes for different levels. Pena Escrita Natural Park Pena Escrita is a beautiful nature reserve with an animal park. You can admire all kinds of wild animals from white wolves to bears and tigers. And in the summer you can also swim there! And if that's not enough: in winter you can ski in the Sierra Nevada!
