Three hours' flight from Amsterdam is one of the most attractive holiday areas in the Mediterranean. Andalusia became known for its sunny beaches with 320 days of sunshine a year and a fantastically pleasant micro climate. But there is so much more that one vacation can never be enough to get to know the environment. The Southeast coast, where the high wild mountains of the Sierra Nevada rise from the sea, houses one of the most beautiful places on the Costa Tropical: Fuentes de Almuñécar.

Through the narrow roads, where you leave the beautiful beaches and pleasantly busy boulevards, you drive in a few minutes from the beach to our casa.

The neighborhood, Fuentes de Almuñécar, was built about 10 years ago and is fantastically situated with a magnificent view of the Mediterranean sea on one side and the rugged foothills of the Sierra Nevada on the other. The district is surrounded by plantations with mangoes, avocados, papayas and the local cherimoyas. In summer the ideal place to avoid the bustle of the beaches.

From the house you walk within 200 meters between plantations on rural roads. The district is at 120 meters altitude 800 meters from the sea and 2 km from the cozy old town of Almuñecar.

The Casa has a beautiful terrace that offers a magnificent view over the Mediterranean sea.

The house has 2 floors. On the ground floor is the entrance of the house and there are 2 bedrooms, bathroom and a nice terrace. The 1st floor has a loft where the dining area is located, an open kitchen and utility room with ample space for groceries and a separate toilet with sink. From the vide you look out on the living room, the waving palms and the sea.

The living room has a comfortable sofa, armchair and high ceilings: this gives the apartment a very spacious feeling with lots of light. Adjacent to the living room is a terrace where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and a breakfast in the sun in the morning! From the terrace you walk through the outside stairs to the larger terrace below which in addition to sun also provides sufficient shade for the warmer days. All amenities are as we like to see: modern (new) interior, good quality, fully equipped kitchen, clean & fresh and very nice beds!

The living room offers nice seating for 4 people, mood lighting, wifi (of course), bluetooth speaker, a holiday book library and some games. The home will be air-conditioned at the beginning of Q1 2019.

On the ground floor is the master bedroom with a 1 x 2 bed with access to the lower terrace; 2nd bedroom 2x1p beds. There is a bathroom with a fresh new shower, double sinks and toilet.

The house is naturally equipped with a washing machine.

For the little ones there is a high chair and on request a camp bed.

The swimming pools are both within walking distance. The beautiful grounds of the infinity pool always have sun beds free with views over sea and mountains and has supervised supervision in the summer. The smaller pool (still very spacious) also has great views and is open from April to December. This small swimming pool is a 15-meter walk from Casa Bella Vista.

Almuñecar has a pleasant village center at the foot of the San Miguel castle. The first foundations of the building date from the 1st century and during the Moorish occupation extended to the present fort with tower and three gates.

The terraces of the many cafes and restaurants are also visited by the local population in addition to the tourists. In the narrow streets of the village you sometimes have an unexpected view of the sea or mountains. In the sheltered bay you will find a beach, a marina and the old fisherman's quay. At the restaurants
on the boulevard you can go for a simple paella cooked on wood, or a seven course menu from a star chef. Both in Fuentes and Almuñecar many hiking and mountain bike routes start through the mountains and along the coast.

With the concept of 'basic luxury', Casa Bella Vista aims to offer its guests a very comfortable, modern, contemporary and personal stay address that remains affordable through an optimal balance between basics and luxury.

The house is located on a hill (120 m altitude) and therefore offers fantastic views. A car is a must for shopping or day trips. The mountain is good to do walking but up some sporting ;-) Within minutes you are in the center of Almunecar or at one of the many beaches! Excursions such as Malaga (60 min) and Granada (45 min) are easy to drive, as are Frigiliana, Nerja and the authentic villages in the Alpujarras, Cabo Verde Natural Park and for the adventurous Caminito del Rey.

We have 2 young children, love good weather, good food and sports. We regularly escape the city bustle and stay with our family at this beautiful spot. The house and the surroundings are ideal. You do not have anything, but everything is possible. All facilities and facilities are present! A nice place to spend with two or with the family.

Additional information

At the start of April 2018 we stayed at Casa del Bacon overlooking Almunecar. Although the whether it was still a little nippy, we spend a lot of time enjoying the terrace and the Mediterranean side of the Sierra Nevada on the inland side. The house itself is fully equipped and great for kids, it will leave you wanting for little more. In fact we had a hard time getting our kids out of the house for a day time because they enjoyed playing around the place so much. The region itself is fun and offers both cute sea side towns and rustic inland villages. We ended up going during one of our last days which we regret because we would not like to spend a few days on this fantastic beach that comes with a fantastic restaurant. All in all it was a great week away from gray North Western Europe enjoying the Iberian Peninsula that we had not discovered yet. Casa El Bacon certainly has our whole hearted recommendation. We enjoyed the very well furnished house, it really lacked nothing. The owners are very involved, and the service is great. The location is beautiful in a residential area on a mountain about 400 meters above Taramay the town directly adjacent to Almunecar. Casa El Balcon is a wonderful base to visit various places and cities such as Granada, Malaga, and many other beautiful cities.We can recommend Casa El Balkon, we enjoyed this holiday.

In September 2017 we stayed with 2 kids (2 and 4) in the beautiful El Balcon. Nice contact in advance with quick response to our questions, good documentation so we were prepared for the trip and a beautiful house where we really could find everything, to hydrophilic towels and the swimming jackets for our kids. It is a nicely furnished and well-equipped house, with a lovely outdoor area where we have enjoyed the outdoor kitchen several times. The town of Almuñécar is small but nice, with good restaurants (Los Geraneos was our personal favorite) and nice beaches. Small disadvantage I found that we both city and beach could only reach by car: the distance is not far, but the height differences are substantial. From Almuñécar you can easily drive to Malaga (airport), Granada or Nerja for example. So there is plenty to do. But also the swimming pool (you) 150 meters walk down the street is clean and good to stay (the big bath was close in the period that we were there). The owners are well approachable and have done everything to facilitate our stay as well as possible! All in all a wonderful holiday and a must for other families!



Skiing over an hour's drive, the prehistoric caves of Nerja, the wine regions of Jèta and of course the fantastic southern Spanish cities of Seville, Jaén, Cordoba and Granada. The old parts of these cities are just as much as hundreds of years ago and because the cities have the Unesco Herritage status an undisturbed future is guaranteed.
At the foothills of the Sierra Nevada (3478m) lies the valley of Almuñecar, for centuries the center of olive groves and fruit growing (cherimoya, avocados and papayas). Here you will find rugged nature and unique Spanish villages, just a short drive from the bustling capital of Andalusia; Malaga.
