Hoz de Barbastro, our village is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees and is located in the Somontano, a region famous for its wine. The village lies on the border of rugged mountain nature and cultivated land with vineyards, olive and almond groves and corn fields. The villages in the vicinity, including Hoz, all located on mountaintops. From the house you can choose from the many hiking trails (which incidentally are also suitable for mountain biking). Going north, you walk the rugged nature, go south you walk through the orchards and past the vineyards and cornfields. Again and again you have beautiful views. Overall for the keen walker, it is really enjoying. Besides mountain biking is also just bicycles for the trained cyclist possible, on quiet, paved roads, through vineyards and nature in an undulating landscape immediately south of the dorp.Barbastro is a town with about 17,000 inhabitants and is located 15 kilometers from us village. It is a cozy and most attractive town, fun to shop, but above all to enjoy at an outdoor cafe on a beautiful square, the Plaza de Mercado, or the Paseo, the "Rambla" of Barbastro. The cathedral is worth a visit.
A little further ... You will be near two of the most scenic areas of Spain. On the crow flies eight kilometers from our village begins the national park La Sierra y Los Cañones de Guara, a nature reserve with many beautiful gorges and canyons of limestone rock formations, which includes many vultures have their nests. You can create special walks. Or during a car ride to enjoy the beautiful views of the canyons and the Pyrenees. In this area also lies the completely restored village Alquezar.
For the very sporty holidaymakers there is also the possibility to descend accompanied by a guide in the canyons. Also, mountain climbing belongs to the possibilities.
To the north of our village, you can see the peaks of the Pyrenees lie. At 45 km you will find Ainsa, which features a restored ancient core, a beautiful and charming village. Above that is the Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido, the most beautiful national park in Spain! You can access the park from different directions. From Torla, you can in the Ordesa, through a slow level walk offers views of many waterfalls. Alternatively, 15 kilometers north of Ainsa by the great gap Anisclo drive and optionally further hike in the gorge or further away and continue your walk uphill with splendid views of the Monte Perdido (3341 m) and surrounding mountains. Do you want more mountains than there are many excursions, including trips to the Val de Pineto, a beautiful valley at the foot of Monte Perdido. The area to the northeast of Hoz, the Sobrarbe, is a beautiful area. Optionally, you can then visit the beautiful square of Graus and visit the colorful BUDDHIST temple Panillo.
