Additional information

Mini-Hollywood in Tabernas The province is famous as the location for the recording of many of the Spaghetti Western movies. The dry and arid landscapes of the Taberna Desert - the only desert in Europe, part of the National Park of Sierra Nevada - were perfect set locations for the films of Sergio Leone. David Lean has also filmed some scenes including the Oscar-winning film Lawrence of Arabia. In the village of Tabernas, you can visit the film set locations. A nice day out is the Mini-Hollywood theme park Oasys Parque where many of the old "spaghetti westerns" were filmed. There are daily shows. There is also a swimming pool and even a zoo. Mini Hollywood is an area located in the desert of Tabernas. The unique, beautiful and mysterious landscapes form the background for historical legendary films. http://www.oasysparquetematico.com/ Near Oasys Parque is Fort Bravo still producing several films to be included. Fort Bravo is also well worth a visit. http://www.fortbravo.es/ riding and quad biking in Partaloa Getting away from it on horseback or quad. That can at Rancho Luz del Sol. http://www.rancholuzdelsol.com/ Karting Garrucha Various arrangements to karting delicious. http://www.kartinggarrucha.es/index.php Parque Acuático (waterpark) Vera An "oasis of fun" for young and old. This water park is close to Vera Playa between Garrucha and Puerto Rey. It is open daily from early May to late September. http://www.ociovera.com/ Caves of Sorbas Cuevas de Sorbas is the commercial name of Natur-Sport Sorbas SL They offer various tours. You can visit the caves in different ways depending on your physical conditions. http://www.cuevasdesorbas.com/es/index.htm Cave Houses Andalucia is an area known for its 'troglodyte villages' with houses in caves. There are a reasonable number of villages in the provinces of Almería and Granada that still have a population who live in cave dwellings. Cabo de Gata - Nijar east of the city of Almeria we find the natural and protected marine park, Cabo de Gata - Nijar with its beautiful and rugged coastline. A large part of this coast has restricted access by car, so getting there should mostly on foot, but the experience is worth it, because once the spot, you can enjoy the crystal clear waters and ideal secluded coves, ideal for swimming and diving. Cabo de Gata is an area of ??volcanic origin. It is also a protected National Park, the largest protected coastal area of ??Andalusia. The rugged mountains and rocky landscape of this area is isolated and is geologically one of Europe's most unusual. The Sierra de Gata is the largest volcanic rock formation in Spain, with sharp peaks and ocher cliffs (shell sand formations). On the coast cliffs rise steeply from the sea. They sometimes create 100m high, angular and jagged cliffs, which are split by ravines and gullies leading to secluded coves with white sandy beaches. Off the coast are also numerous small, rocky islands and submerged large-scale coral reefs with rich marine life. http://www.degata.com/eng/ Skiing in Granada The beautiful Sierra Nevada Natural Park extends into the Alpujarras of Almería province. A landscape of white villages, protected and pristine forests, valleys and snow-capped peaks. This is a country where the Arabs during their leadership, were greatly attached to; and that is understandable, because the Almerian Alpujarras is a beautiful and compelling part of southern Spain, not to be compared with the bustle of the coastal areas - though still only a few hours drive is removed. The area is also an excellent backdrop for outdoor activities: skiing, cross country skiing, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking and much more. Granada and the Sierra Nevada mountains is approximately 2 hours drive and offers excellent skiing from December / April. http://www.sierranevada.co.uk/winter_resort_overview.html
Albox is a municipality in the province of Almeria in Andalusia. Albox name comes from the Arabic word for forest and sounds similar to the Spanish expression for the forest - El Bosque. Albox is a typical Spanish town with narrow streets interspersed with small squares. The town is only five minutes drive from the popular resort of Mojacar and just half an hour from the beaches of Vera and Garrucha. Located between the better known towns of Baza and Huercal Overa the small town of Albox is flanked by the Sierra de las Estancias and the Sierra de los Filabres, mountain ranges which are surrounded by a beautiful landscape of olive groves, orchards of citrus trees and hills and valleys covered mainly by almond trees. The origin of Albox is medieval and the remains of an old fort can be found on a nearby hill. In 1503 it was destroyed by an earthquake and many of its historic buildings were lost. It has been completely reconstructed. Albox has all the facilities and service that one would expect from a modern small town: supermarkets, shops, banks, post office, restaurants, bars, schools and a 24-hour medical center. The nearest major hospital is in Huercal Overa, about 21 km away. There is a sports center and tennis club, which also has its own pool. Lorca is also called the "City of the Sun". It is a place where time has stood still. The city is dominated by its imposing castle. The castle marks the boundary of the Christian Empire and the Moorish empire through the centuries heen.Vandaag the day it is a bustling attraction with recreation opportunities, exhibitions, multimedia presentations, animations and people who walk around there as medieval inhabitants and as you take back to the 13th century. Begin your visit to the city in the visitors center of Lorca, where you will find everything you need for the city, its history, its culture and its traditions to discover. There is a fascinating exhibition and an audio-visual "time travel" that gives you a good start. Unfortunately, the city on May 11, 2010 was hit by an earthquake, and so there are many historic buildings damaged and not yet recovered. Do not you want some culture but shopping, then of course that is also very good. Almería At just over an hour from Albox is the city of Almería. The city name 'Almeria' is derived from the Arabic word Al-Mariya ("Mirror of the Sea '). It is the capital of the province of Almería. In 2008, the city had 187 521 inhabitants. Almería coastline called the Costa de Almeria and 219 kilometers long, with sunny beaches. The region has the most sunshine on average per year in Europe. In west northwest of the city lies the Sierra Nevada, and on the other side of this is the city of Granada. Almería is an airport and a circuit. The city also has a train station. Sights in and around Almería: 16th-century cathedral, Alcazaba (Arabic fortress), Muralla de Jairan, Sala de Prehistoria (museum of prehistoric times), Sala de Historia Antigua (Museum of Antiquity), Torre de los Espejos. Granada is 2 hours away from Villa Damara. Few cities have such a rich cultural past as this city. Proof of this are the many monuments and everyday atmosphere in the city. First, one can visit the Alhambra and the Generalife, with its beautiful gardens. You can already book your tickets through http://www.alhambradegranada.org/en/info/ticketsale.asp From the Torre de la Vela to the Silla del Moro covers an immense area of ??which a beautiful view of the city and to see her surroundings: the Patio de los Leones, the Jardines de Lindaraja, the Salón de Embajadores, the Patio de Arrayanes, Palacio de Carlos V, Puerta de la Justicia. The center shows a renaissance and baroque past, as well as many Arab influences. There is the great Renaissance Cathedral with its gothic Capilla Real, where the tomb of Catholic monarchs, as well as find a great art gallery are. Not far from there one can find traces of an Arabic past: the Madraza, the former Arab university, the Alcaicería, the small market and the Corral del Carbón, the old market. From the Cathedral to the Monasterio de San Jerónimo, another great Renaissance building, one finds some Baroque churches, such as San Juan de Dios, San Justo y Pastor, and some palaces. Further, the Cartuja, the apotheosis of the Baroque period, well worth a visit. Other attractions include the well-preserved fragments of the old city wall and well maintained Cármenes (villas with beautiful gardens). One of the most beautiful streets in Andalusia is undoubtedly the Carrera del Darro: on the one hand, it runs along the river and the other stand palaces inside the archaeological museum, the Casa del Castril and Arab baths, and churches such as San Pedro. The street leads to the Plaza Nueva with the Chancillería and elegant Moorish tower of Santa Ana. Elvira street, with antique shops and the Plaza de Bib-Rambla, with many kiosks are also worth a stroll. Furthermore, there are monasteries and convents like Santa Paula, Santa Isabel la Real, and museums Zoal the Casa Museo de Manuel de Falla. Further north lies the Sierra Nevada mountain range, where from December until May to ski can do. In this mountain one can find the highest mountain of the Iberian peninsula, Mulhacen.
Our villa is a half hour from the beaches of Vera and Garrucha. The famous resort of Mojacar is 3 minutes away. The historic town of Vera Vera and accompanying resort of Vera Playa feature a mixture of culture and beach fun. Vera Playa is a popular place for nudists (mile naturist beach). It also provides excellent activities such as water sports and golf. Vera finds some buildings that betray a Roman and Arabic past: the Church of the rebirth, the Saint Augustine Church and an interesting archaeological museum. The Saturday market is well worth a visit. Garrucha Garrucha is a beautiful sailing and fishing village where you can enjoy excellent beaches and seafood restaurants. A walk across the vast and lively boulevard is a pleasant time spending. Mojacar The popular town of Mojacar is divided into 2 parts. The actual village of Mojacar is on a hill, and is traditionally Spanish with narrow, steep streets. It has some cozy taverns, plazas and restaurants. The more tourist Mojacar seafront has a beach promenade with mostly restaurants, taverns and pubs.
