The Lotus glamping tent

Quinta Antes o Vento.
You are welcome to join us at the Quinta (farm) in the Costa de Prata.
We, Francine Satin Loek order, in 2004, a few years bought an old dilapidated Quinta for our retirement. We were confident that we could convert, where we could receive. The people welcoming it a nice Guesthouse And that's after five years of intensive cultivation succeeded.
The objective was to our own house, to be built where people can feel at home. Two apartments In 2012 there was still a yurt (a large Mongolian tent) at. We have also laid out the garden, a pool and an outdoor kitchen built.

Our Yurt is in a great location with a memorable and panoramic views. For children there is plenty of room to play and enjoy our animals ..
You will find us in the Silver Coast, about 100 kilometers north of Lisbon. Our Quinta is twenty minutes drive from the sea and beach and close to historical places like Obidos, Alcobaça, Caldas da Rainha, Batalha and Leiria.

A Yurt is a marquee from Mongolia. Our Yurt has a diameter of 5 meters and is fully furnished. There is a large bed, a dining area and there are (old) suitcases to to store your stuff. It is the ultimate camping with luxury. There is enough space for four people, but children can also camp in a tentje.Bij our Yurt has two buildings. One with a shower, sink and a.i. and one that is as kitchen furnishings. Both are exclusive to the residents of the Yurt. There are towels and tea towels. Beach towels must be brought worden.Onder itself camping is staying in the yurt the "cream of the crop." From your bed, you can enjoy the many bright stars. During the day you no longer need watch. The sun acts as a sundial.

Outside, on your private terrace, you have a beautiful view over the valley. In the distance you can see the mountains of the Candeeiras. Of course you can if you stay in the yurt, also use the outdoor kitchen with barbecue. This is free of charge. It is important to take a pass, if you want to use it here.

Additional information

When we drove in 2001 from the Algarve back home (Netherlands), we knew for sure. We did not live in the Algarve and not south of Lisbon.
We found the scenery is not really attractive. Of course, the sea is beautiful, always and everywhere. But the hinterland consists of large estates, dry olive groves and vast pine forests. Beautiful but not for us ....
So we drove back home (Netherlands) and maybe we still always lived in the Netherlands, were it not that we hundred kilometers north of Lisbon by a beautiful green landscape reason. Hilly, pastures, forests interspersed with fruit trees. In the distance, the blue-gray mountains of the Serra dos Candeeiros. But I was not even that interested in.

The landscape made something up in me. So I told Loek (my husband): "If here a nice town close to a beautiful terrace, where I can drink a cup of tea, then on Friday I'd like to look around here. So we drove Caldas da Rainha and in the middle of the city we come to a beautiful park from the 17th century. Parque Dom Carlos 1. And yes, with a terrace.
What you now have a week?
Caldas is located in the Costa de Prata, but I only came much later. The place we have chosen to live is so much more than we initially realized. Maybe you should live to know. There is so much to see, to experience and enjoy the surroundings. I have therefore always secretly laugh when people want to hire. One of our apartments a week "What do you want now I call a week," but I do not. Obviously Instead I bombard them with tips and ideas (if they want it, of course).
Yes, I dare to say that here, even if it rains, beautiful and there, if you want, lots to do and see. One of the highlights is the old monastery in Alcobaça, Mosteiro de Santa Maria. It is true, the abbey is described in all the tourist books, but there is also so much more interesting to explore. And that is just one of the attractions. Costa de Prata has lots and lots more to offer.
What can you do with us?

That depends of course on what you want to do and how old you are! But you might find it fun to play with Bo. Bo is a very friendly dog ??and has a ballentic. He always wants to play with the ball and needs someone to throw away the ball. But you can also help to take care of. With the other animals The cats (Sia, Miou and Snorrie), the chickens and ducks should be fed and need water. You will pick up eggs in the henhouse. Chamoor, the mule should be brushed and would also like to eat. Of course, we do that every day itself, but if you like, can help you.

Pool and games

We have a (fenced) pool for the little ones. And we have a lot of games. Now never rains in summer of course but it's also nice to do business together on the porch, if you want to sit. Out of the sun as a game Or go all together shul baking. We also plotted a (short) photo walk from the Quinta. We explain you guys how it works, when you come. Used to have dinosaurs walked around here and you can still see the footprints.

It is near the sea and there are several places where you can swim well and safely.
Beaches, sailing and surfing

The Costa de Prata, the region where we live, is a great beach. The best beaches for children in Salir do Porto, where the highest dune, San Martinho and Nazaré. But also in Foz do Arelho is a great beach. There you have both the sea which is very fierce here, but also more of Óbidos, offering a great swim and play. If you want to (learn to) surfing and swimming, you have to be here in Foz. There is a very nice sailing and surfing school with a good atmosphere and what is also important, not expensive.
Water Parks

If you find our pool too small and the sea is too large, you can still go to one of the water parks that are in the area. There is a water park in Nazare, Norpark. The Parque dos Monges is a large business park nearby, where you can do, such as canoeing, shooting with bow and enjoy the petting zoo and other adventures. Arrow all
The History of Portugal

Portugal has been an ancient land and wars have raged here too. One of the wars against the Spaniards fought around here. They now have a museum built on the same spot where the Battle of Aljubarotta is reenacted. Loek can you tell the story of this war, if you want to visit the museum. It is very interesting and fun to watch, even though it sounds crazy, when it comes to a war.
