Villa Lugar do Pego

Renovated large country house with 2 spacious bedrooms with private bathrooms, 2 living rooms and large open kitchen. For the guests there is a swimming pool (salt water, 12 x 4 m) with a sun terrace. Terraces and patio overlooking the woods & mountains. In the middle of the Dão wine region, in nature on 1 hectare of private land. Shops, amenities and restaurants are within 5 kilometers. The accommodation is open all year round and has mosquito nets and air conditioning (heating/cooling).

Lugar do Pégo is located in the middle of the wine region of the Dão, with vineyards and wineries 'around the corner' and borders the ecopista - a cycle path of 49 km without any motorized traffic. Mountain bikes can be rented upon prior request. Less than 300 meters away is the river Dinha, clearly audible with its waterfalls. Further along the Dinha and the river Dão there are river beaches where you can swim. With a view of the Serra da Estrela and the Serra da Açor, surrounded by trees and tranquility and 21 kilometers from Viseu and 69 km from historic Coimbra, the accommodation offers all possibilities to be active but also to relax. The Caramulo Mountains are 20 minutes away by car and are suitable for hiking, paragliding, abseiling and has a renowned old-timer museum. The Serra de Estrela is an hour's drive away, as is the sea with several fantastic beaches. There is also a thermal bath with various beauty packages within 15 minutes by car and a golf course with 27 holes within 15 minutes.

Viseu is 21 km from Lugar do Pego and can be reached by bicycle via the ecopista. Coimbra is only 69 km away. Free WiFi throughout the complex. Towels and bed linen are provided. Free parking is available on site.

Lugar do Pégo is also interesting from a gastronomic point of view: a few kilometers away is a famous authentic Portuguese restaurant with Bib Gourmand (Très Pipos), less than 15 kilometers away is the Quinta de Cabriz, also famous for its wines, and less than 20 kilometers away away is the beautiful Quinta (Mesa) de Lemos.
Along the ecopista there are various food and beverage outlets.

The oldest part of the villa Lugar do Pego is the 'tower room' (on the 1st floor), which dates from the end of 1800 and has been converted into a very spacious double room with a double box-spring bed, a private bathroom and a private entrance. In the old 'adega' on the ground floor, a large double room has been realized with a private bathroom. The living/dining room as well as the terrace outside have a fantastic view of the Serra de Estrela and the Serra da Açor. There is a large well-equipped kitchen and a second sitting room.

Lugar do Pégo is a settlement consisting of several buildings (the villa as described here and a completely separate holiday home at some distance). Each Lugar do Pego building has its own facilities and private terrace (note: not fenced, not child-friendly) and private entrances. Of course there is free internet and wifi and there are private parking spaces. The villa is very spacious at 150 m2.

Worth knowing

• In the house there is another (very spacious) bedroom and bathroom. These can also be rented on request so that the house is suitable for 6 people.

• A little further on the site is another building with separate entrances & terraces.

• Given the height differences on the quinta and the terraces, which are not all fenced, this accommodation may be less suitable for young children.

• The pool is shared by the guests of Lugar do Pego (up to a maximum of 13 people in total).
