The houses are situated around a central garden with swimming pool and olive grove. All houses also have their own outdoor space, with dining table and sitting area. In the garden you can see original “espigueiros”, the traditional wooden maize barns.
Casa 'Laranjeira' (orange tree) is dominated by some very old orange trees, hence the name. In spring, the air is filled with the sweet scent of blossom. In the summer and fall you can see the oranges grow and change color, but in the winter you can actually pick and eat them. The ground floor of the house is certainly over a hundred years old, but may be much older. The current first floor was added about fifty years ago. Until the renovation in 2021, the first floor was the only living space, with a separate kitchen with open fire pit. The ground floor was used for farm animals and for wine making and storage. The ground floor of the house is built of xisto (slate) stone from a local quarry. Large white quartz stones, typical of the area, have been incorporated into the walls and are clearly visible in the living room. You reach the first floor via a staircase from the living room, as well as an outside staircase that leads to the original front door. Through the front door you reach two bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The third bedroom has its own entrance, where the separate kitchen originally stood. This bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and access on two sides to a partly covered balcony with stunning views. This home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It can accommodate up to 6 guests. In view of the layout of the house, it may be less suitable for young children. The rental price includes use of all common areas and the swimming pool.
