The houses are situated around a central garden with swimming pool and olive grove. All houses also have their own outdoor space, with dining table and sitting area. In the garden you can see original “espigueiros”, the traditional wooden maize barns.
Casa Adega was built by hand in 1948 with the help of the whole village. It is built entirely of xisto (slate) stone from a local quarry. The stonemason who did all the recent renovation work on the stone walls, and one of the villagers grew up in this house with their siblings. They can tell you that the stones for the house were mined with homemade gunpowder and transported by ox cart. The living area of this house is on the first floor. From the balcony and the large windows next to the dining table you have a magnificent view of the 'Serra de Lousã' mountain range, about 50 kilometers in the distance. Next to the large, bright kitchen with dining table, there is a living room that gives access to three bedrooms, with two bathrooms. A special feature of this house is the large 'adega' (wine cellar) on the ground floor. This 32 square meter room has a huge table with benches that can easily accommodate 16 people so that you can invite as many friends or locals as you like in the adega. There is a fireplace and a toilet.
