Casa Retiro / Quinta do Retiro ***

Quinta do Retiro is located in a small, enclosed valley with a terraced landscape and covers approximately 9 hectares. The site is located at an altitude of 350 meters just outside the village of Covas in the Beira Litoral region (Central Portugal). This typical Portuguese farm has been rebuilt into a small-scale holiday estate with four holiday homes and a small nature campsite. In the middle of the site, within walking distance of the holiday homes, is a beautifully landscaped ecological swimming pool for shared use, filled with water from our own source. This is clear swimming water due to natural filtering (filter bed with stones, plants and some small fish). Next to the swimming pool there is a sun terrace with a bar (self-service). For the children there is also a play area with sandbox, swing, slide and trampoline. The quinta has many fruit trees, olives and grape vines and a small river with some rocks and waterfalls cuts through the grounds.

This undiscovered region with a lovely, but also rugged and hilly area, is a paradise for those seeking peace and quiet, hikers and nature lovers. The mountain ridge and Serra da Estrela National Park are approximately 30 minutes by car. In the area you will find many authentic villages such as the slate village of Piódão or you can visit one of the typical Portuguese markets such as Tábua (approx. 10 km) and Arganil (approx. 20 km). A visit to the student city of Coimbra or a day trip to Mira on the Atlantic coast (approx. 95 km) is also definitely worthwhile. A sauna is available to guests of the quinta from November to April. This sauna can be used both communally and privately.

Casa Retiro is an attractively furnished, detached house with lots of privacy, built on a slope in a traditional Portuguese style. From the house, the shady veranda and private garden you have a beautiful view over the river and the valley.
