Zeeland landscape from zero to now
The exhibition, which is set up in the beautiful historic orangery annex coach house of the nearby Westhove Castle, is devoted to the emergence of the landscape of the province of Zeeland and its rich nature. The exhibition is full of variety and is designed for young and old. In a number of places, discovery questions and game elements have been included especially for the children.

The first room deals with the formation of the land and the first settlement in medieval Zeeland. Beautiful models show scenes from life at that time. What did the first settlements look like in the 11th century? The exhibition gives a picture of it. In this room, the large sea aquarium shows something of life in the waters of Zeeland.

The second room deals with the increasingly important role of man in the formation of the country. A lifelike 17th century land surveyor is bent over his maps, working on a new dike. Each succeeding generation ensured that new pieces of the salty coastal landscape were reclaimed. Over the centuries, habitable islands arose that gradually merged into the larger residential areas of today.

The force of the sea often undone the diking work. There are more than 100 drowned villages scattered across the province. Sometimes the area where they lay has never been reclaimed and they now lie outside the dikes, forever sunk in the silt. Part of the exhibition is specially devoted to the many drowned villages of Zeeland; Among other things, there are beautiful archaeological finds on display that come from these vanished places of residence.

Also very worthwhile are the wonder cabinets in the last exhibition room, which all contain special features from our collection.

From May to September, the Rondje Pontje sails between Kamperland and Veere. A ferry for both pedestrians and cyclists. The possibilities and departure times are displayed for you on this site. It is, however, advisable for groups to book well in advance for the bicycle ferry Kamperland - Veere vv. Especially in the sailing season it can happen that the ship is fully booked. Many cyclists make the crossing here to cycle or shorten the Veerse Meer loop. Passengers also cycle from Noord-Beveland to the market in Goes or the Zak van Zuid-Beveland, for example. From South Beveland it is nice to cross over to North Beveland. There is also a nice short cycling route, for example departure from Kortgene by bicycle to the Deltaweg past the Zandkreeksluis and the bicycle ferry in Wolphaartsdijk. Then back to Kortgene and vice versa.

Do you want a nice walk with or without a dog of about 1 hour? Then this route is a great fun through the park. You walk through many paths and along playgrounds, but also outside the park.

The 40 kilometer cycle route takes you past beautiful places, beautiful nature and beautiful views of the North Sea and Veerse lake. Some nice places to visit are Domburg and Veere. You cross the bicycle foot ferry from Veere to Kamperland. You can cycle this cycle route in 2 hours without interruption, but there are so many fun things to see and do along the way that you should definitely make it a day trip.
